Score 4 out of 5 Good location with a footnote Anonymous, 2006-05-27 Rental costs of ATV's seemed reasonable. And the kids enjoyed the arcade on the boardwalk. Our side of the hotel faced a side street where there was lots of noise throughout the night. That and no a/c in the bedroom was rather unfortunate. The staff and pool were both great and the other features of our suite were also fine. Another plus was the ease of finding the hotel. It's central location makes that easy. Score 4 out of 5 Just not for everyone. richard, Manchester, NH, 2006-05-08 The restuarant "Checkers" while attached, is not affiliated with the hotel. Great food and service. Our check in was fast and effecient. The rest of the stay was not. Our suite was on the fourth floor. We had to wait for a "guest" (or resident) to get out of the elevator on a scooter before we could get on! This was the last time the elevator worked for 36 hrs.. Ours was the very last room on that level and we had to pass many residential rooms. The odor as we passed them was daunting. The rooms were not clean, nor were the dishes supplied. They charge $15.00 IF YOU LEAVE DIRTY DISHES. This was a joke. The pool was great! The hotel is located on a stretch of beach free of motor vehicles, but we still could smell the exhaust and hear all the noise. Truth be told: this was our one and only trip to Daytona Beach. We were not impressed at all. Score 1 out of 5 Terrible value for the money Kevin, Tampa, FL, 2006-05-01 Lot's of beach activities, etc.The first night we were at the Daytona Inn Beach Resort, I felt we were sent to a leftover room. It seemed this room was used for, maybe when they ran out of other rooms. when we got there my wife decided to upgrade to a waterfront for another $20/night. For another $17/ night we could have stayed at the motel our conference was at, which was like brand new! That night we had a roach event. My wife can't stand to be in the same room with one, so needless to say she didn't sleep well. The pillows smelled bad, the towels smelled bad, they smelled like they needed to have some soap added to the wash. I didn't sleep real well. I wasn't going to say anything until my wife informed me she felt like she was going to fall through the tub taking her shower the next morning! I didn't really believe her until I got in. Sure enough the tub was cracked under where I was standing! It felt like a bunch of smaller cracks not one big one. They had put down a non-slip section the size of pretty much the whole tub! I literally had to straddle the sides of the tub to feel I wasn't going to fall through! I waited till the lobby was empty before approaching the desk. They offered another room, which we had to accept. I have to say the room was considerably better, but I would rather have not stayed there. Upon leaving the manager happened to be in the lobby and asked how our stay was. I filled her in on our first nights stay. I told her if it was anyone a little heavier than my wife or myself, they would have gone through the tub. I also told her if they had, they would've definitely gotten hurt! She was very apologetic. She offered to put us up at another time compliments of her. We have an opportunity for another conference in Daytona in Sept., I told her we would consider her offer, only because it would be no cost to us. I wouldn't send a worst enemy there! |
