Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 A great getaway for couples and families Anonymous, 2006-05-07 Some boat rental and fishing tour companies will pick you up on the island which is preferred because if they will not you must ride a car ferry to the mainland, which is just a 6-8 minute ferry trip but much less convenient. My wife and I spent a long weekend for our first anniversary and we will definitely be back. The condo's are well appointed and roomy with nice back patios with view of the ocean. They are a little outdated (not run down at all, just older decor) but it actually added to its old Florida charm. We uggest staying on the island, not in the units at the marina. It is also very kid/family friendly but the island is large and everything is spread out enough so it is not over run with kids/noise/etc. Not a place for young couples or singles to go out partying though. This entire area is all about relaxing. DEFINITELY call the resort and reserve a golf cart rental BEFORE you arrive. There were weddings going on and we almost didn't get one. Having a golf cart allows you to explore more and enjoy fishing and sight seeing around the island. The beaches, water and sunsets are beautiful. With no automobiles allowed on the resort itself it made for an extremely quiet and relaxing getaway. There is a great little town just a few miles away(Boca Grande) with restaurants and shops. Expensive retaurants though ($25-45 a plate) so for a family, use the condo kitchen and outdoor gas grills to save some major $ on meals. a few miles away and lot's of fishing tours, places to rent boats, etc. Next time we go we are going to spend a week. Score 4 out of 5 beautiful beaches LAURA, Tampa, FL, 2005-05-31 We had visited the resort 10 years earlier and loved it.I will start with arrival. We arrived by boat at our resort. The staff knew of our arrival as we called to find where to dock. We were informed of an additional fee for docking, however, the clerk neglected to offer arrangements for someone to meet us or inform us of where the office was. After unloading, we found ourselves waiting at the end of a very long dock, with no one around. It was very hot and sunny. I walked to the nearest building hoping to check in and found the activities center. A staff member informed me that we could rent a golf cart or call for bell service. After walking back to the dock, we called the office. They then sent a bell boy and we were finally driven a distance to the office with a courtesy tram. We felt awkward and unwelcomed. |
