Most recent user reviewsScore 2 out of 5 Good short time stay Joe, Newark, NJ, 2007-03-11 There were many hotels on this strip.Although they had a kitchen, the hotel room needed some repairs. The blinds were not working, the slider door lock was broken as well as the bathroom door. The location was nice. Score 2 out of 5 Great Location Anonymous, 2007-03-09 1. There is a great grocery store called Winn Dixie across the street from the hotel. The marketplace store has everything that you need. 2. Great restaurant inside the hotel Rumors and a awesome Tiki Bar.The Ocean Manor has is on a great location right on the beach, approx 2-4 miles of shopping distance. I liked the fact that the location has a tiki bar and a resturant located inside the hotel. One problem we exprienced was when arrived to the hotel to check in the hotel overbooked but gave us the excuse that their electricity and water went out and had to have a repairman come in however that was 2 days before we had even arrived. So the hotel sent us to a private residence. The next day when we came back to the hotel we had to wait from 8:am till 12:30 to get a room. However overall after our 1st day everything was great. The staff is really nice and the location is great and the rooms are just awesome. We had a ocean view with balcony which was great. Score 2 out of 5 Good location & entertainment MARY, Grand Rapids, MI, 2007-03-05 Hotel is located just one block from Hwy A1A with many shops/restaurants/grocery & pharmacies nearby.Check in at the Ocean Manor Beach Resort was difficult. An additional $5.00 per day room charge (for valet & internet service) was assessed even though we explained we had no vehicle on site & were on VACATION (from phones & Internet). Room was comfortable, closet was small & w/o hangars. Kitchen was well equipped although no dishwashing products were provided & housekeeping did not do dishes during our week long stay. Comfortably warm water for showering was seldom available & water water pressure was extremely low at all times. The staff both within the hotel & at the Tiki Bar (poolside) were VERY friendly & willing to offer assistance. Entertainment was excellent @ both lounges & hotel location is great - close to shops & restaurants. Desk attendant @ checkout was rude & insulting - worst I've ever encountered. Score 2 out of 5 Not worth the money Anonymous, Montreal, QC, 2007-03-05 Drinking in clubs is extremely expensive. 8$ a piece at a nearby club (Christopher's) People in the club were not very attractive!!!Went to strip joint, drinks were 12$ each. Most I've ever payed. Watch out for 'Valet Service'...every place you go to wants to charge you for valet parking when you can pretty much park anywhere you want.Good - The htel is right on the beach. Outside there is a nice little bar right next to the swimming pool. Happy Hour made it affordable to have a few drinks. Rooms were big. Kitchen was nice and pretty new. We were allowed to check out late with no extra charge, because my wife yelled. Most of the staff was friendly. Bad - There were renovations going on on our floor. Noise started at 7AM. Walls are paper thin, the teenage girls next door made noise until 4:30 AM, impossible to sleep. We had to call the desk in order to have them stop, it was impossible to get them to keep quiet even when I went to their door myself. Our room was right on top of the main entrace, people right outside our window were screeming like hell all night long, motorcyclists had fun reving their engines at 3AM. To make a long story short...sleeping was impossible. (Our bed was also extremely squeeky, any turn would wake you up.) My wife took one of the towells to go shower and a big cock roach came flying out of it. The htel needs renovations. One of the guys working at the desk was always completely drunk, he could barely function. Many times, there was no hot water in order to shower...also our sink almost overfload because of other guests not using their dishwasher properly. Our phone did not work, we told the people at the desk about it at least 5 times...nothing doing. Also no payphone anywhere around. My cell phone bill was 350$ by the time we left. When checking out they wanted to charge us for a resort fee 35$, again my yelling wife got us out of that too. This apparently covers towels, valet service and wireless internet in the lobby...all things that were supposed to be included in the price. Score 4 out of 5 Probably won't stay here again Anonymous, Detroit, MI, 2007-03-05 Nick's Italian Restaurant is great. Prices are reasonable and the Calamari and Mussels are top notch and generous in serving size. There are plenty of great places to dine, shop and play in the area but most require a 20 minute car ride. One major problem was the lack of room security. The supplementary door lock was missing. The primary door lock was unreliable and the door did not close automatically and required excess force to assure closure. The peep hole was simply pushed in from the outside leaving a clear view of the inside of the room. The sliding window required about 1/2 hour to finally engage the weak lock. There were no curtains, only vertical blinds with several missing leaving a clear view from the parking lot into the room where the bed was located. The pool, bar, coffee stand, and beach were very nice. There were several groups who checked out after seeing their rooms and some who did not even check in. There is one ice machine in the basement by the garbage. Rats were seen and one group of guests could not leave soon enough after seeing more than one rat. There were pigeons and other critters in one of the rooms on the upper level. At least one of the rooms did not have a functioning lock. The valet parking was very efficient. But the self-park across the street left a lot to be desired. There were not enough spaces, I saw a Jag which was keyed, broken window glass in the lot and I would not leave the car there overnight. Score 1 out of 5 never again Anonymous, Orlando, FL, 2007-03-02 a very bad experience, never again. Score 2 out of 5 What a rip off!!! Anonymous, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2007-02-19 Great location on the beach! For the price I paid, I expected more for that value. The parking was the only thing I felt satisified about. The elevators were not working correctly, the rooms were not warm enough, there were gaps in the sliding doors which created a draft of cold weather, the price of food and room was silly. I would have been happier staying at another hotel. I will not ever go back to that hotel. Score 5 out of 5 great location and a friendly place to stay paul, Albany, NY, 2007-02-19 The ocean manor is a nice hotel with a great location. Had alot of fun at the tiki bar and right on the beach. Score 1 out of 5 Not so great a stay! kathleen, 2007-02-14 I would just like to comment on a hotel that we stayed at last night. We purchased one night stay at the Ocean Manor in Fort Lauderdale. At first it started out okay, however, after we were there for about 5 hours, One of their Security Staff is pounding on the door, I asked if there was a problem, he was quite rude, and when it all came down, he told us we needed to go to the lobby and get it straighted out. They told us we were not supposed to be in the entire room, just one room of it. Now this seemed a little odd, as when we got to our room, all the doors were open. Well, okay, we moved all of our stuff into the small room, We had no phone, no garbage can, no remote for the TV and the tub did not drain properly when we were taking a shower. Now at the time that they told us that we were only to be in the one room, we had already taken a shower in the small room, and we told them that the tub did not drain. They stated that they would send a maintenance person up to our room. Well, it was 10:00 pm, we had to get up early so I called the desk and stated for them not to send any one up as we were going to bed. They stated, they weren't going to, we do not have anyone on maintenance working at that time. Nice! Then I told them we did not have a phone. They did not care!!!!! I did not even get into about no garbage can, no remote for TV, not enough outlets in the room to do average activities. Good thing we brought an extensin cord with us. Oh yes, and their internet connection!! I got onto it, and took forever to get to a page, so I gave up1!!!! Very disappointed in the accommodations and the way they handled the whole situation.
