Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Worst hotel ever jeff, Phoenix, AZ Madonna may well have partied in this hotel as advertised, but sadly they have never cleaned up since the party. The room was really large, but very decrepid with stains and dirt everywhere. Run as fast as you can! Score 1 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2007-03-12 No review provided by user Score 5 out of 5 Great weekend get away sheryl, Fort Lauderdale, FL, 2007-02-15 The Marlin has a great bar and is located on the main street with all of the restaraunts, bars, and clubs. Joe's Stone Crab and China Grill are several blocks away and wonderful for food and atmosphere. The Mansion nightclub is a short walk with great music and beautiful people. The main beach is one block over!!The Marlin went far beyond my expectations for the rate that I paid. I expected a small room with few ameneties but when we opened the door to the room---wow!! The room was large, comfortable and had a great South Beach feel. It was a suprise stay for my boyfriend and myself and not only was he pleasantly suprised, I was as well. The hotel bar was adorable and kitchey. The hotel, the staff and the room made the trip and our Valentine's Day spectacular. It really set the tone for the evening. I have already recommended the Marlin Hotel to others and will definitely stay there in the future. Great job Marlin Hotel Score 4 out of 5 good location Anonymous, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-09-28 go to puerto sagua's on collins, its great cuban food and you get big portions for only $8! also breakfast at finnegans way is only 5.95 before 12pmThe Marlin was in a good location because it was in walking distance to everything , but not too close that you dont get a good night's sleep. our room was clean and spacious, but our refrigerator broke and spoiled food we had purchased. the staff was accomadating and offered us other rooms; however, one looked dirty and smelled like mold, and the other room's refrigerator was also broken so we just stayed in our original room. its not a luxury hotel but the deal was worth it because in south beach you don't spend that much time in your room anyways. also the beach at 13th is not crowded... perfect! Score 1 out of 5 Review Cheri, Milwaukee, WI, 2006-07-25 Very close to Ocean Drive ...Score 2 out of 5 Review Nancy, Norfolk, VA, 2006-02-19 No review provided by user Score 5 out of 5 Rockstar Getaway Joseph, Pittsburgh, PA, 2006-02-07 Try Spiga retaurant, two doors north on collins - a really good italian place with good prices. also playwrights irish bar around the corner has good food and prices. Theres a franchise of "crunch" gym above playwrights, if you like to work out. If you want to go "out" try Mansion also with a block or soThis was my second stay at the Marlin, and I really do recommend this place. The place is really hip and well decorated. The staff and entire "vibe" was laid back. There are usually cool nightly events in the lobby/bar area, for example, DJ music, theme parties like "White trash night," or the superbowl, where the staff was cool enough to hang a large sheet in the bay window and project the superbowl onto it, which allowed guests and those outside to watch the game on the big screen. At the same time, the staff set out couches and even bowls of chips, pretzels, salsa for the guests and I guess anyone who came in to watch the game! The whole place just feels like you are staying over someone's house. This is not however a place for your grandparents to stay. The walk to ocean drive and the beach is like 500 feet so its easy to get to the madness of south beach if you want, and also easy to get away from it. The on premises modeling agency usually means theres a few hotties hanging out there, which never hurts. Score 4 out of 5 Great customer service Anonymous, 2005-11-11 Tons of dining one block over. The problem will be what to choose. Also alot of nightlife. The Marlin was a unique staying experience. It is a smaller hotel in the sense that there are few suites and few guests. The location to the beach and many, many restaurants is excellent and you can walk to many shops and a mall. The customer service was terrific, wanted to make sure the stay was everything you wanted and gave background about the area and some history of the hotel as well as suggestions of where to eat. The decor fits right in with the art deco theme of south beach. Score 5 out of 5 Very customer oriented John, Philadelphia, PA, 2005-09-07 The shopping was so close to the hotel both for food for the rooms , and for world class shops. The Marlin was very well maintained . The staff and the owners were very helpful and always there to help you. I found my stay leaving me not wanting to leave . The room was great and very clean . The location was great, The food excellent. I can not begin to say enough about the staff. I will be returing very soon. Score 1 out of 5 Filthy hotel, snooty staff. Anonymous, Orange County, CA, 2005-08-22 This entire process was terrible. When we arrived, we were told they did not have a room for us. After being stared at in the lobby by a manager, and our conversation being interrupted by him so he could ask the front desk clerk if she was busy (we were in the middle of a terse discussion about our room availability), we were finally told that we could have the room since the other res holder had not checked in. Up the tiny elevator we went, down a hall that had carpets so stained we did not want to walk there. Into our 2 bedroom suite that did not have a door on the main bedroom, a filthy bathroom with stains on the floor and dirty mirrors. Our son found a package of condoms under the 2nd bedroom bed. There was a luggage cart in the 2nd bath. There were stains on the loveseat which looked like the human variety. My husband was furious at the filth and would not sit down on the furniture. It was a terrible experience start to quick finish. |
