Fast Cats Ferry Service
Finally, a ferry that goes from Miami to Key West. It's about time. The PurrSeavearance may be a cheesy name for a luxury $7.5 million catamaran, but the trip is hardly so. The 102-foot boat can hold up to 149 passengers and will make the 4-hour cruise (driving only takes 3 hr., but with traffic it can take up to 5) four times a week starting at $69 each way. VIP tickets cost $98 and include preferential seating. Food and alcoholic beverages are available but not included in the price.

Miami Museum of Science and Space Transit Planetarium
The Museum of Science features more than 140 hands-on exhibits that explore the mysteries of the universe. Live demonstrations and collections of rare natural history specimens make a visit here fun and informative. Many of the demos involve audience participation, which can be lots of fun for willing and able kids and adults alike. There is also the Wildlife Center, with more than 175 live reptiles and birds of prey. The adjacent Space Transit Planetarium projects astronomy and laser shows as well as interactive demonstrations of upcoming computer technology and cyberspace features. Diaspora Vibe Art Gallery
This culturally charged art complex is a funky artist hangout and is the home to some of the greatest artworks of Miami's diverse Caribbean, Latin American, and African-American cultures. The gallery has two seasons of shows, often focusing on emerging artists. During the winter, three artists are selected by the gallery to travel to and exhibit their works in Paris. On the last Friday of every month, from May through October, the gallery holds its fabulous cocktail-infused "Final Fridays." A new artist's work is spotlighted inside, while outside in the courtyard are live music performances and readings of poetry and folk tales. Delicious Caribbean cuisine is also served while the who's who of Miami's cognoscenti gather here to recharge their cultural batteries.

Friendly hotel staff

Eating places were plentiful around the hotel.

The Las Palmas Hotel and Suites was clean andhad a friendly and helpful hotel staff. The rooms for 4 adults was very small but was sufficient. It would have been nice to have some sort of transportation to South Beach and Dolphin Stadium since most in the hotel were there for the Super Bowl.

The hotel is off a main road, which is very convenient for coming and going. A car is needed. there are Two shopping centers close by. Ther is also a large mall about Five miles away and off of the Florida Turnpike. Enjoy your trip.

Great makeover

Having stayed at this property a couple of years ago I wasn't impressed with its condition then but decided to return because of its proximity the the Doral where I would be attending a convention. Much to my surprise the property was much improved over my previous stay while the price reamined comparable. The rooms and hallways were redone and the complememtary breakfast was expanded. The staff was very efficient and helpful. I would certainlt receommed this property to someone needed to stay in the area.

Lots of resturant within short drive

Excellant place to stay for a business trip. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, the room was nice, clean and quiet. The TV cable was disconnected and the front desk person fixed it for me within 5 minutes of my call to the desk. I would definately stay at this hotel again.
