My review of Tropic Cay Beach Resort

Nicole, Marietta, OH, 2006-04-10

when coming out of hotel, walk to the right abou ta half a mile, to a placed called the beach place. Inside it, it has everything you need, food, drinks, shopping etc.

If u dont mind staying at a "just ok hotel" for a lower price, and still be close to everything, this would be the place to stay

Tropic Cay is Terrible!

Michael, Pittsburgh, PA, 2006-04-09

This place is a wreck. We didn't even stay, the manager said that our money would be refunded and as of today, it has not been. This is a crappy, spring break hotel, no one else should even think of staying here.

Horrible!

Anonymous, 2006-04-03

The Tropic Cay was nothing like what we thought it was! Although the location was good, the hotel itself was horrible. We were told we would have a kitchen in our room, but that consisted of a mini-fridge. The paint was peeling off the walls and the shower leaked and flooded the floor everytime we used it. One night we were there housekeeping didn't come until after 8pm, and nobody at the front desk would give us towels to use until she arrived. we called the front and nobody answered. Finally, the night before we left we requested a taxi for 5:30am the next day. In the morning, we went downstairs at 5:20am and the taxi had already come and gone. Nobody called us because the new guy at the front was not informed about our cab request. I would NEVER recommend for anyone to stay here.

Little Shop Of Horrors

Be warned! Do not stay at this "resort". Even the roaches have vacated this "resort". If you like prison like surroundings, this place is for you. Once you get over the smell, you have to get over the dirty rooms. The bathroom! Where do I start! I made the mistake and no one else should. I would not recommend this place to ANYONE.

Dont do it

Daniel, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-02-27

though the hotel was a disgrace it is right across the street from the beach and is on a main drag for shops and restaurants and bars.

Horrible hotel Not at all what the brochure looks like, yes its on the beach but it is really really run down no upkeep at all. If you have ever seen a movie where the wife who is beaten leaves her husband and takes the kid to a motel, Thats this place. I have worked in the hotel industry for 17yrs and have stayed at economy hotels and top resorts but this place really is the pits. paint peeling in the bathroom. water stains running down the door to the room from the airconditioner unit above it. one light fixture worked intermitently and while the tv was on, if you turned off the light switch the tv also went off. People yelling and screaming at 3am. Its really a shame because it could be a really cute place to stay its a throw back to the family hotels of the 50s and 60s but not in its current shape. truthfully it didnt bother us, we found it funny but we were only there one night and I would not stay there again or reccomend it to anyone else.

Beach is across the street. Two decent eating places were with.in 2 blks

Staff was friendly. Hotel is in very poor condition. All around it expensive condos and hotels are being built. It appears as tho the owner is just waiting to sell.
