Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Return Unlikely Anonymous The White House is very near by and there are many different cafe's and restaurants to try within short driving distances. The Melrose Hotel in Washington DC was everything but what I expected it to be. The room was very clean and spacious which led us to believe our stay would be pleasant. The room temperature remained consistantly at 82 degrees throughout the night despite what the ac controller read, which led to a horrible night of minimal sleep!!!! Later in the middle of the night, we were awaken by the loud sound of the fire alarm which was apparently activated incorrectly. Although I must say, it was a relief to know it worked! The hotels location was great but the staff was everything but! The day of our checkout we notified the hotel staff of the issues we had encountered during our one night stay in hope of an apology. To which the hotel clerk replied, Sorry, you didn't give us a chance to correct the problem, as if it was our responsibility to make sure the ac was not going to function, the valet was going to take one hour to get our car, the fire alarm was going to ring in the middle of the night, and that the staff's attitude was going to infuriate me! On second thought, I will never stay here again! Score 5 out of 5 Great Location Maria Georgetown, DC, is full of shops and restuarants. There is a place for all crowds.Score 5 out of 5 great location....class act kathleen, New York, NY, 2007-03-11 lots to do and good restaurants at all price pointsthe melrose in dc is located on pennsylvania ave ....8 blocks from white house and 2 blocks from georgetown....so the location was great...professional staff....5 star experience....also we were allowed to board our 2 small dogs in the room for at flat fee of 100 usd.......we would go to melrose again in a heartbeat! Score 4 out of 5 Nice accomadtions Anonymous, 2007-02-04 The Metro is two blocks and can get you anywhere in DCThe Melrose had great rooms, nice faciitlites and was in a good location for our visit to Wash DC. The only problem we experienced was the confusion by a desk staff person over a the check in and late arrival of one in our party. Due to his failure to understand instructions from the staff, part of our party had to go to another hotel, when in fact they were all ready checked in at the Melrose. Score 3 out of 5 Good location to come and go Anonymous, 2006-12-31 Georgetown is a melting pot of restaurants, both chain- and independent. Shopping remains open late daily for those who want to walk off a meal. Try the Ethiopian restaurant or any of the Vietnamese venues.Because this hotel is a two-block walk to either Georgetown or the Foggy Bottom Metro, the location can't be beat. However, the room was a bit small. The mattress and pillows did not afford one a good night's sleep, especially if you're doing a good amount of walking during the day. Soap and shampoo were not replaced on a daily basis, and the room temperature was poorly regulated. We did not eat at the hotel's restaurant, opting out for the selection of Georgetown venues. Score 5 out of 5 Excellent service; clean;good location Barbara, Boise, ID, 2006-11-19 La PerlaThe Melrose offered everything that my party needed in terms of comfort, service and location--easy access to all forms of mass transit and friendly doorman who accessed taxis at a moments notice. I was very impressed with the concierge who seemed to work 24 hours a day! Room was very clean and maintained in the way our entire visit. Score 4 out of 5 My review of Melrose Hotel Anonymous, Houston, TX, 2006-10-04 dozens of restaurants close-byThere were lots of small things that did not work - the fornt door lock, the bed side telephone and the mini fridge was filled with so much stuff I could not put any of my stuff in there. The Bed was confortable although the tv selection was very limited - to the major channels + HBO. Great for access to Georgetown and GWU Score 4 out of 5 The Melrose Anonymous, 2006-08-27 There are lots of wonderful resturants a short walk from the hotel. When I initally checked into the hotel I thought that it was great. It was in a great location and the staff was very friendly. The room was large and looked clean until I pulled back the covers. There appeared to be tiny hairs that looked like they belonged to an animal all over the sheets and the pillows. I called and had the sheets changed, but still after fresh sheets were brought in and the beds were remade there were still hairs all over the bed. When I talked to the hotel staff they did switch my room and they did give me a voucher for a free breakfast, so it wasn't as bad as it could have been. Just if you go make sure you check you sheets. Also skip the hotel resturant. It is overpriced and the food is fair at best. Score 5 out of 5 Lovely Hotel Anonymous, 2006-06-15 The Melrose is a small charming hotel in the heart of Washington proximal to a variety of attractions (White House, George Washington University). The rooms are very clean with extremly confortable beds. An excellent choice.
