Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Different in a good way Matt, Boston, MA, 2006-07-26 Plenty of bars andd clubs in the dupont areaHelix wa a fun hotel to stay at. the set up is different then any other hotel I have stayed with. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and well set up. Logan Circle though not in the middle of everythin is convenient to most areas. Score 5 out of 5 Vibrant ...and off the beaten path David, Portland, OR, 2006-07-25 The hotel is close to Dupont circle where there are numerous dinning options... on 19th below the circle is Irichi (itialian) and Sam and Harry's (Steak and Seafood).I have stayed at the Helix several times of the past year... it is a very comfortable place, small with vibrant colors and charm. In particular, I like that is unique as compared to the big convention hotels. The room layout is good... not over crowded with furniture... and I particularly like how the bed is in an alcove... out of the way. As a business traveler, I appreciate the free internet access.... I will be back! Score 5 out of 5 Great Hotel for quick getaway! V. Posh Elizabeth, Lexington, KY, 2006-07-12 Great Whole foods market 2 block away. Great Chocolate martinisI loved the room and lounge. The hotel staff were very accomadating, and the champagne happy hour was fabulous! Score 2 out of 5 Disappointed!!! Anonymous, 2006-05-29 For Breakfast visit Logan's restaraunt one block north of the hotel. They serve the best French Toast I ever had. DuPont Circle (which is about a fifteen minute stroll Northeast)has a variety of restaraunt offerings at reasonable prices. Our stay at the Helix was disappointing. The hotel claimed "short walk" to the hotel from the Mcpherson Station Metro stop was a sweaty hike when carrying your luggage. Nobody told us that there is a bus that will take you right to the corner of Rhode Island Ave. from the 14th Street Metro exit at McPherson. Be prepared for a hike to the National Mall and all of the must see sights from this hotel. The bathroom was indeed small and the room design neglected ample seating. If you like a room with a view, this is not the place to stay. The hotel offers CD stereos in certain rooms. The guests next door to us took full advantage of the stereo wattage by cranking music into the wee hours of the night and during the day. It took 2 calls and an "in person" visit to the manager to finally quell the noise after an hour and a half of thumping bass which shook the room and bed alcove. Not exactly what you want to experience after a long day of walking and sightseeing in the Washington DC heat and humidity. The staff was very good in handing out "I'm sorries". The hotel does not have many amenities...not even a soda machine, but the staff cheerfully told us that there was a 7-11 down the street. There are some good restaraunts in the area and in nearby DuPont circle. The people in the surrounding area of the hotel were very friendly and helpful. The Helix Hotel experience we had was nothing to write home about. Personally, we would not stay at this hotel again. |
