Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Simple Mark, 2006-04-27 5 blocks or so from metro. Sort of an industrial section of NY Ave, so no adverse DC interactions. Quite economical for DC. Score 2 out of 5 In need of repair Anonymous, 2006-04-21 Union Station with numerous shops is nearbyThe rooms at the Hotel Super 8 were clean, but the furnishing such as the carpeting were beat up and in need of replacement. There was no clock radio in the room. The pool was disappointingly not open yet and would have been appreciated on an 80 degree day. There was no reaturant in the immediate vicinity and only a soda machine with no snacks available. The included morning coffee and danishes were good. The constant din of construction attested to fact that something is being done about this need for repairs. The hotel sits right on a major roadway, but the air conditioning did a pretty good job of drowning out the noise. Score 5 out of 5 Good for the money. Anonymous, Louisville, KY, 2005-10-02 There is a gas station a block away, and the mass transit train is about a 10 minute walk. This was only a one night stay at the Super 8 in washington. It was neither a bad experience or a wonderful experience. It was what I expected for the cost that fit my budget. I did like the reasonable proximity to the train station to which the hotel clerk directed me. Another clerk gave me and my nephews good directions to a few bars to go to, also via the train. Score 1 out of 5 Very disgusting Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2005-09-30 The hotel was very poor. The receptionist, who seemed nice enough, was behind bullet-proof glass with a tray to slide your information and money. The room smelt horrible. The hotel was located in a very depressed part of town, not near any sights. We ate our room cost, and went to a different hotel within 30 minutes of arrival. Score 3 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2005-08-18 a subway is about 1.2 miles from the hotel.A long walk though.Score 1 out of 5 a place not to stay -super 8 in DC Anonymous, Atlanta, GA, 2005-07-17 The hotel had no restaurant facilities anywhere near the premises. They only offered coffee in the AM with no other snacks, etc. available- the only other refreshments were 2 drink vending machines. I had to go and ask for towels, wash cloths, soap, shampoo. They advertised alarm clocks/clock radios but denied they were available. Worn blanket on bed (was it clean?). Hairs in shower. Miniature toilet- your knees were almost in your face when tou sat! Very impersonal front desk- they dressed as if they were custodians or yard help and peered out at you from behind a wall of glass and didn't even rise out of their chair when you came in as they were obviously preoccupied with the TV programs they were watching. The "security guards" were either asleep in the lobby or sitting around there. There were several very loud persons from time to time during the week; the worst were a group of beer-swilling young men at 5:00 AM one morning climbing over the gates to the swimming pool, yelling, and freely consuming alcohol; when I inquired of the mgmt. about this they said they were just marines on leave (security man asleep again in lobby). Score 2 out of 5 Unsafe neighborhood Anonymous, Memphis, TN, 2005-07-09 Compared to the Super 8 Motel in Monterey, CA, the one in DC is a total turn-off. First of all, the location is totally unsafe, and what makes it worse is that I had to walk to like 10 min. in this neighborhood before getting to the Metro station. Other than that, the service was not that bad. Score 4 out of 5 Review Anonymous, Memphis, TN, 2005-07-09 No review provided by user Score 3 out of 5 good enough for one or two nights... Anonymous, 2005-07-03 The room was small but clean, the only cockroach we saw was on the reception. There was a pool in the middle of the parking area, the neighborhood was not that great, some weird people running around... All in all I would recommend it for someone who wants to stay a night or two, not for a two-week-vacation. Score 2 out of 5 not a good area Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2005-06-20 This hotel doesnt have a shuttle, so if you are using the metro you have to walk about 1/2 mile to the hotel. The area is not very safe looking. Bullet proof glass in lobby, and every other place we went into (gas station etc) Ended up finding a different hotel after the first night. Would be fine if you had a car, be we used the metro and it was too difficult to get to. |
