During your Denver vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Denver Firefighters Museum
The history of the Denver Fire Department is preserved and displayed here, in historic Fire Station No. 1. Built in 1909 for Engine Company No. 1, it was one of the largest firehouses in Denver, occupying 11,000 square feet on two floors. In its early years, it lodged men, fire engines, and horses. Motorized equipment replaced horse-drawn engines by 1923, and in 1932 the firehouse was "modernized." Concrete replaced the wooden floor, the stables and hayloft were removed, and the plumbing was improved. Visitors today see firefighting equipment dating to 1866, as well as historic photos and newspaper clippings. Allow 45 minutes.
Denver Botanic Gardens
Twenty-three acres of outstanding outdoor and indoor gardens display plants native to the desert, plains, mountain foothills, and alpine zones. There's also a traditional Japanese garden, herb garden, water garden, fragrance garden, and a garden inspired by the art of Monet. "Romantic Gardens" feature a waterway, and the "Gardens of the World" hold plants from Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia, and the tropics.Even in the cold of winter, the dome-shaped, concrete-and-Plexiglas Tropical Conservatory houses thousands of species of tropical and subtropical plants. Huge, colorful orchids and bromeliads share space with a collection of plants used for food, fibers, dyes, building materials, and medicines. The Botanic Gardens also have a gift shop, library, and auditorium. Special events are scheduled throughout the year; offerings range from garden concerts in summer to a spring book-and-plant sale to a cornfield maze southwest of Denver in the fall. Allow 1 to 2 hours.
Vance Kirkland Museum
This relatively new museum covers Colorado's most illustrious artist, Vance Kirkland (1904-81), in grand fashion, while also presenting a world-class collection of decorative arts. Kirkland was a watercolor painter focused on Western landscapes when he started experimenting and combined oils and watercolors on one canvas. The traditional arts establishment dropped his modern ideas like a bad habit, but he later won accolades for creating his own artistic universe in his stunning paintings, about 60 of which are on display here. His preserved brick studio (first built in 1911) has an unusual harness he used for painting on flat canvases face down (dating from his "dot" period). The decorative arts collection includes about 3,000 pieces ranging from teacups to armchairs, and there are also over 600 works by notable Colorado artists other than Kirkland.

Good Location, Great for Business

Anonymous

My stay was for a weekend getaway. The longer walk to the many good restaurants, pubs and nightlife made it a good combination for combining a little exercise. The hotel does have a complimentary shuttle which is a nice ammenity.

The Warwick is a great value. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. The location is good and it is a not-so-long walk to most lodo locations. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom spacious with nice fixtures. The balcony a plus. I would recommend it best for a business stay, but warm and friendly for personal travel as well.

good location

The purpose of our stay was to attend a conference at the Colorado Convention Center. We walked to the Convention Center in the morning, a long leisurely stroll, stopping for coffee and to window shop but, rode the free 16th Street bus to within 2-3 blocks of the hotel on our return the first evening.

The Warwick was a lovely hotel, nicely decorated, spacious room with all the amenities for a business traveler. Although this was our first time to stay here we would definitely book the Warwick Hotel again on our next trip to Denver. Our only concern was with the parking, due to the recent snow storms Denver had, the outdoor parking area was icy in the evening and early morning. The hotel was in the middle of Denver's financial district in the Capitol Hill area, a quiet, clean and safe enviroment.

Take a cab to one of the more trendy neighboorhoods. I would not recomend driving as you will lose your parking space.

The rooms were "dated" with furnature that appeared to quite worn and in need of replacement. Parking was billed to our room but this does not guarantee you a parking space. We arrived back at the hotel to find no parking spaces were available, but we were still billed for the parking space. The room service did not provide a cart or table with witch to eat on. The rooms do not have a table so it became a balancing act to eat my breakfast in the morning. I would not recomend this to any folks that enjoy room service or have a vehical to park. Persons without vehicals and non room service guests will find this hotel to be a marginally acceptable facility.

Very Beautiful Facility

Anonymous, Pensacola, FL, 2006-07-02

Spacious room and bathroom with very comfortable bed. The room had a nice balcony with a good view of the downtown Denver skyline. The TV was rather small for the size of the room, however that was not a huge concern for us. The location was within a very short drive of Elitch Gardens, Coors Field and the downtown 16th Street Mall shopping area. The bed was very comfortable and my wife and I really had a good nights sleep. The main negatives were having to pay for parking and the fact that the internet was $10 per day if you wanted it. Overall it was a good nights stay.

nice hotel, small enough to avoid the feel of the glass, brass, marble, large hotels nearby. I liked it and recommend it.
