French cafe on corner of main and 8th or 9th has excellent pastries and Italian restaurant. Also first rate Italian restaurant off main on about 8th street...Andiamo or something like that..Very Good! Red Snapper seafood restaurant okay..good salad.The Best Western Inn and Suites at Durango was comfortable and adequate. Bathroom very small and sparse amenities. The room definitely needs more lighting. The location was pretty good, a couple of miles from the main area on a highway, but not bad. I'm not sure how the word suites got in the name, as we saw nothing to indicate there were many suites so it's a bit of a misnomer. I guess I assumed from the name that the rooms would be larger than average for a motel. The outside of the building could definitely stand some refurbishing. The stucco was dirty in places and the stairways were not at all inviting. The restaurant looked good but we didn't eat there so I can't comment. The staff seemed friendly. Rooms could have been a little better cleaned. Score 2 out of 5 $50 cheaper than the BW less than a mile away! Carmen, Baltimore, MD, 2005-05-17 Hotel rooms were VERY small and the air conditioner did not work well at all. This is an older property and would benefit from updating. Having said that, for the $, if the AC had worked, it would have been okay. They did have a pretty good breakfast! |
