Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Eye Pleasing Melissa, Memphis, TN The Hotel Mar Monte is located directly across from the Pacific Ocean and has a beautiful view. The hotel itself has a lovely Spanish decor and a gated parking area. The room was quite large and the bed was very comfortable with fresh smelling high quality bed linen and "tons" of pillows. My wakeup call was a real guy wishing a good morning. A couple of things that didn't go so well -- I got lost and the person who answered the phone at the hotel didn't know the area well enough to get me back and there's a train that runs sometime close to midnight that woke me up. Score 5 out of 5 charming; great location barrett great location - walking distance to the beach and just down the road from State Street. (The center of town - shopping, restaurants etc.)Hotel Mar Monte was an overall nice place to stay - especially for the money. I don't feel it deserved some of the negative reviews it received. It could use a little TLC - maybe some period art work, fixtures, or something, but the room was clean and comfortable and the location was very nice. The bathroom was a bit dingy looking, though I feel it was clean - the robes provided were a nice touch. I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking to stay in Santa Barbara at a reasonable rate. Score 5 out of 5 very clean and friendly Xitlali, Los Angeles, CA very friendly staff. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. Good location close to State St. Score 5 out of 5 Great weekend getaway Patrice You can park at the shopping mall parking and walk to just about anything on State Street. If saves you a ton on time looking for parking. The Mar Monte was very nice. We usually stay in a lesser expensive hotel so this was a splurge for us. We were pleased that we had a microwave and refrigerator in the room. We could see the ocean from our room even though we weren't on the "ocean side" of the hotel. It rained all weekend and we were happy that our accomodations were so pleasant and didn't mind spending early mornings and evenings in. Only two things we would have changed. Our shower pressure wasn't all that great because of our funky shower head and there was not a very big selection on the pay per view movies. Would stay there again. Score 5 out of 5 great service lori, 2007-03-13 the zoo was wonderfulthe mar monte was so pretty and the staff was very accomidating to our every need. great location to all the great shops near by. and you can rent bikes there too!!! the restaurant was great . the sunday brunch was one of the best i have had!! Score 2 out of 5 Better for vacations than business travel William, Los Angeles, CA, 2007-02-23 You will find some fine restaurants just a short drive away in Montecito, CA. Also, skip the breakfast buffet and order from the menu. The Hotel Mar Monte was fine for a brief stay. Clearly, it is more appropriate for vactioning travelers. rather than for business travelers. I enjoyed the fact that my room was very large, but it did not have a desk or comfortable chairs to accomodate my business my needs. However, they promptly provided a usable chair when I made a request. My dining experience was acceptable. While there was nothing special about the meals, the service was very good. The business center was completely useless during my three-day stay, and the front desk staff did not seem necessarily motivated to fix the printer in a timely manner. I found the gym above average; I enjoyed my workout. One final comment, avoid any of the rooms next to stairways, I was very dismayed with the noise caused by people walking up and down the stairs. It sounded and felt as if they were walking inside my room. As the weather was extremely cold during my stay, I did not have the opportunity to enjoy the beautiful beach, which is just across the street. Score 4 out of 5 great view of the beach except for the offshore drilling Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2006-10-28 the mar monte is a nice hotel but not the best value for your money in santa barbara. it has a great view of the ocean but we opted not to go swimming because of the unsightly view of the offshore drilling. instead, i would have preferred to have stayed in downtown, in the heart of the action. there are so many more shops and restaurants. if we didn't want to deal with parking, we were forced to eat in the restaurant hotel that had a lackluster staff and low cleanliness standards. Score 5 out of 5 Review Anonymous, 2006-08-31 The shoreline beach area is just across from the hotel, and a short distance from the Santa Barbara Pier with shops and restruants. Bike rentals, skates and rikshaw bikes available for rental.Score 5 out of 5 Great location Anonymous, Killeen, TX, 2006-08-03 Just down from State Street and Stearns Wharf. The Hotel Mar Monte is easy to locate, right across from the East beach. The room was very large, beds comfortable, private patio looking onto beach. Even being on Cabrillo, room was very quiet. Bathroom but/shower needs to be updated, but overall wonderful place. Score 5 out of 5 Great location Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-07-31 Went their for our anniversary - hotel front upgraded our room free of charge to an ocean view, plus surprised us with champagne and strawberries. Room is nice size - great location - across from the beach...Highly recommended -Will defeinitely go back again |
