During your San Francisco vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Mission Dolores
San Francisco's oldest standing structure, the Mission San Francisco de Assisi (aka Mission Dolores), has withstood the test of time, as well as two major earthquakes, relatively intact. In 1776, at the behest of Franciscan missionary Junípero Serra, Father Francisco Palou came to the Bay Area to found the sixth in a series of missions that dotted the California coastline. From these humble beginnings grew what was to become the city of San Francisco. The mission's small, simple chapel, built solidly by Native Americans who were converted to Christianity, is a curious mixture of native construction methods and Spanish-colonial style. A statue of Father Serra stands in the mission garden, although the portrait looks somewhat more contemplative, and less energetic, than he must have been in real life. A 45-minute audio tour costs $5; otherwise, admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Glide Memorial United Methodist Church
There would be nothing special about this Tenderloin-area church if it weren't for its exhilarating lively sermons and accompanying gospel choir. Reverend Cecil Williams's enthusiastic and uplifting preaching and singing with homeless and poor people of the neighborhood attracted nationwide fame over the past 30-plus years. In 1994, during the pastor's 30th-anniversary celebration, singers Angela Bofill and Bobby McFerrin joined comedian Robin Williams, author Maya Angelou, and talk-show queen Oprah Winfrey to honor him publicly. Cecil Williams now shares pastor duties with Douglas Fitch, alternating presiding over the nondogmatic, fun Sunday services in front of a diverse audience that crosses all socioeconomic boundaries. Go for an uplifting experience and some hand-clapping gospel choir music.
Wells Fargo History Museum
Wells Fargo, one of California's largest banks, got its start in the Wild West. Its history museum, at the bank's head office, houses hundreds of genuine relics from the company's whip-and-six-shooter days, including pistols, photographs, early banking articles, posters, a stagecoach, and mining equipment.

good value

Thomas, Appleton, WI, 2006-10-17

The room was small but comfortable. It is a retro step back to the sixties. The staff was very courteous and helpful. The location is great, just walking distance to Piers 45,39 and 33. The area has a variety of restaurants and other things to do. It comes with free parking, a $30 plus value. If all you are looking for is a room the is your best bet.

1. Fisherman's Wharf is just right outside the hotel, lots of shopping, pier 39 is only a block away, and all you can eat bread bowl chowders.

Nice Location, But

thomas, 2006-08-23

The location was great, near many major attractions. The staff was both helpful and friendly. The rooms faily generous in size. Secruity was also excellent as a room pass was necessary to enter the stairwell or elevator. Location near the Wharf did bring some noise but it was the trucks loading and unloading in the early morning that was difficult to take. A room on the Mason St. side had people doing ealy morning deliveries around 4:30 or 5:00. a few yards from the street below the room.

Very helpful staff

Wayne, Honolulu, HI, 2005-09-18

Crab station #2 at fisherman's Wharf has excellent crab.

The Wharf Inn was very comfortable, the room area was larger than average. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The location was very convenient to public transportation and within walking distance of many tourist sites and restaurants.

Great Location - poor accomodations.

Anonymous, Staunton, VA, 2005-07-28

Several restaurants within one to two blocks of hotel.

Loved the location. Very very noisy - other rooms not street noise! Didn't have coffee maker in rooms, nor static hair-dryer. Way to expensive for what was available.

Great Wharf Location

DONNA, Twin Hills, AK, 2005-05-29

The Wharf Inn is small but perfect if you want to stay on Fisherman's Wharf. It is clean, the parking is free, and you are close to everything. It can be noisy though during holidays. Whenever I'm in San Francisco, I always stay here. I would highly recommend this hotel.
