The Mithila Hotel is a charming European-style hotel located in the heart of downtown San Francisco; offering beautiful guest rooms, warm gracious services and excellent value surrounded near major attractions. We are walking distance to Union Square, Chinatown, theaters and world -class restaurants. Together with our commitment to quality, you'll enjoy a high standard of hospitality reflected in the quiet elegance of our surroundings and the personal attention from our friendly staff, dedicated to making your stay an enjoyable experience. The Mithila Hotel was established in 1920 & fully restored in 1998. Restoration took nearly 2 years to complete taking care to maintain original ceiling moldings and marble flooring. The Mithila Hotel, formerly the Roy croft Hotel, is a highly regarded boutique hotel with modern amenities and affordable rates. Our family has been at this location for the last 20 years. Along the way we have changed our name once, but we have learned that the most important characteristic customers look for has not changed - a friendly and welcoming staff that exudes traditional hospitality. We opened The Mithila Hotel with a simple idea: at your favorite hotel, you feel like you're coming home. You'll find warm, comfortable surroundings and friendly staff who greet you by name. Since there are only 40 rooms, you'll find peace and quiet. Parking is available offsite for twelve dollars. What does The Mithila Hotel do better than any other hotel? We steadily attend to all of your needs in a relaxed atmosphere. We know you need a nice umbrella when it rains, an idea for a cozy and affordable restaurant, directions to Fisherman's Wharf. No problem. Everything you need is handled without a charge and without a fuss. It's a pleasure to serve you. Please visit our website; www.mithilahotel.com for further information.
Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Review rebeca, 2007-03-04 there is a small italian restuarant around the corner that is very cozy, with excellent food. the lagsagne was great!! there are many restaurants to chose from.the room was very small and the bedding next to wall must have been nailed to bed, because when i tried to pull it, it wd not move. the plaster around the sink was cracked and broken. we cd hear the people above us at 1am, some sort of party and we had to be up at 5am for a volleyball tournament. Score 1 out of 5 My review of Mithila Hotel patrick, St Louis, MO, 2006-10-14 Close to downtown. This place was so uncomfortable, unclean that I could not even sleep at night. I had to leave the next day and check in at another hotel nearby. Huge difference!!! I would never recommend that place to anybody. That was a painful experience. Score 4 out of 5 Nice retreat Gail, Boston, MA, 2006-10-10 If you feel like shopping instead of sight-seeing, there are many upscale department stores in the Union Square area. Whenever you want a break, have a cappuccino in one of the cafes. The Mithila Hotel was a great value hotel. We like to stay in smaller hotels and this one fit the bill. The room was somewhat small but not too uncomfortable. It overlooked the street so we could always watch passersby to check whether we should bring a jacket or sweater. There was coffee on the second floor along with sweet rolls. Just the thing for early morning! The hotel was about four blocks from Union Square and the Powell cable car line and two blocks from the California cable car line. There were also alot of very good restaurants between the hotel and Union Square. Score 4 out of 5 Bang for your Buck! Anonymous, 2006-09-02 walk out and there you stand just steps away from shopping, eating and best of all entertainment. Our stay was short. the price was right . the bathroom was clean, the sheets were clean, the staff was friendley, along with complimentary coffee. worth the money. Score 4 out of 5 Scary neighborhood Edward, Newark, NJ, 2006-06-30 The service was very well but the neighborhood was sketchy and the buidling was rather old. Score 4 out of 5 Economical, but no amenities or frills Anonymous, 2006-06-24 Best tip: the small liquor/convenience store two doors down (toward Hyde St.) sells Airport Express shuttle tickets, so you can easily arrange to be picked up at Hotel Mithila (shuttle runs every half hour, beginning at 4:30 am).An economical choice for San Francisco travelers, if all you need is a roof over your head. Plan on hauling your bags up eight steps from the street (no other access of which I was aware, although there another entrance with the parking arrangement?), buzzing to be let in, and getting your bags into a self-serve lift/elevator for 2nd floor office/check-in. My room was very basic: bed, table, two chairs and a television; it was not air-conditioned nor were there screens on the windows (windows DO open, so keep an eye on any small children). Bathroom had no hooks or shelves (one fairly high towel rack)for hanging items or spreading out toiletries. I could easily overhear the other guests overhead and on each side, as well. Neighborhood seemed safe enough for a woman traveling alone, but not as near public transportation/attractions as some other hotels. Score 1 out of 5 What a mistake Anonymous, 2006-06-03 The room had a very ad smell and are tiny... I thought I was going to get shot every night. Score 2 out of 5 My review of Mithila Hotel Anonymous, Ontario, CA, 2006-05-21 I would never stay at this hotel again. The room was very tiny, old, and decrepid. On top of that, the office staff were not very friendly. At times, they were rude. For example, I needed asssistance with obtaining a taxi one morning to attend a local seminar and was told to find one on the street. Well, I had to walk about 5-6 blocks before I could actually find a taxi and this was with heavy bags. Why couldn't they just call one?! Score 4 out of 5 A room Anonymous, Washington, DC, 2006-05-04 Great shopping and eating withing walking distance for those who don't mind walking 15 minutes. This hotel is great if you want an absurbdly cheap room, with no ammenities, and you don't have a car. There's no parking, so keep that in mind...it raises the price of the room. The wi-fi is not free. And I had to buy my own soap and shampoo. Score 4 out of 5 Very good location Sascha, Newark, NJ, 2005-09-06 There is a very good indonesian restaurant just 2 blocks away.Besides the quality of the bed, everything was fine. The location is very good, a lot of restaurants are in walking distance and there is also good public transportation in short walking distance. |
