Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Great hospitality, very comfortable Joan, 2007-02-26 Buy a Passport for the MUNI and take public transportation anywhere you want to go in the city--over and over again. We bought 7-day passes for $24 each but 1-day or 3-day passes are also available. It's easy to get around the city without ever worrying about cars and parking. The Beresford Arms Hotel was everything we wanted: reasonably priced, very comfortable, with an unusually helpful and friendly staff. Our room was on the small side, but what isn't in San Francisco at the lowest price room for the specific hotel? (The suite rooms would have been larger, at a bit higher cost.) Our bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was small but with good quality fixtures. Having breakfast included in the price saved us money. We enjoyed the fruit and sweet rolls breakfast--especially the long interval it was available (7-10am). The late afternoon wine hour had cheese and crackers and dried fruit. The lobby is very comfortable and set up well for small conversation groups. It's an inviting place to just sit for a while with the paper and a cup of coffee. Finally, the location worked well for us. We took BART from the airport to the Powell station and walked to the hotel, 5 or 6 blocks. The hotel is 3 blocks from Union Square and close to many MUNI lines and the cable cars, a couple of blocks from the theaters, with tons of nearby shopping. We plan to stay here again. Score 5 out of 5 Quaint but nice Robert, Boston, MA, 2007-02-23 WE enjoyed being able to jump right on the cable cars at the next street corner.THis would connect us werever we wanted to go.This hotel is definitely not modern ,but it is well kept, amd my wife refered to it as quaint, almost European The bathroom fixtures could use replacement ,the knobs worked in reverse on the fixtures. The hotel staff were all very accommodateing and helpfull with tour recomendations and directions and suggestions for local restaurant All in all it was a very enjoyable stay . Score 5 out of 5 enjoyable visit donna, San Francisco, CA, 2007-02-23 we like being on union square. We enjoyed our visit..the staff was friendly, room clean, maybe a little tired. We really enjoyed the junior suite with an equipped kitchen...the bathroom a generous size. But most of all they went out of their way and mailed us my therapeutic pillow without even being asked..we felt that was an over the top service.. We will book this hotel again. Score 4 out of 5 great location Anonymous, San Diego, CA, 2007-02-21 2 blocks from Union Square. The location was excellent - close to trolley/BART, Union Sq. and dining. There is an excellent restaurant directly across the street - Borobudur and just down the street on Jones is Dotties. Dottie's is worth the wait for breakfast. The continental breakfast at the hotel had fresh fruit, but then only donuts or muffins. Needed some more healthier options, even a whole grain roll. Other than that, I would definately stay here again. Score 5 out of 5 Great room, great value!!! Gretchen, San Diego, CA, 2007-02-11 If you come up short on toiletries such as a toothbrush and toothpaste (like I did), the front desk will be very happy to supply you with those needed items. There are no hair dryers in the rooms, but they are available at the front desk as well. Union Sqaure is a short walk away. Great shopping. This room was a great bargain. A junior suite, it had 2 queen size beds, a kitchenette with a mini bar, a large separate bathroom with spa tub, double sinks, toilet and bidet, and a desk area that included a comfortable couch. In addition, there was a wide double closet with mirrored doors that opened to reveal another mirror on the wall and a full chest of drawers. The hotel was within easy walking distance of Union Square, and offered a nice free continental breakfast, as well as a free wine and cheese tasting every afternoon. There was a spacious lobby with lots of seating and 2 internet-accessable computers, and a room to store luggage for early arrival. Score 5 out of 5 Very friendly!! Miguel, 2007-02-08 The hotel is in the corner of Post and Jones. If you arrive using BART, get to to Powell Station and walk all Powell and then turn left on Post. Avoid Civic Center Station and do NOT walk on Jones St, it's hideous and dangerous.Very comfortable, quiet, clean, safe and cozy. The room was large with a very nice bathroom. Good quality products in the bathroom and kitchenette. Friendly and helpful staff. My family and I loved the complimentary breakfast and wine. It has a very good ubication, close to Union Square but not in the middle of it. Definitely worth the price. Score 5 out of 5 My review of Beresford Arms Hotel Dave, 2006-10-02 Cityscape at the top of the nearby Hilton Hotel has a great view and good food.A nice smal,l well maintained, hotel close to Union Square and public transportation. We paid for a regular small suite and when we arrived we were given an upgrage to a large suite with living room and kitchen. Score 5 out of 5 Value for the money Janet, Honolulu, HI, 2006-09-21 There are many lunch and dinner places within the vicinity, in fact, up and down Post Street and surrounding areas you can find plenty of places to eat. This hotel offers good quality for the money. A continental breakfast with several bowls of sliced fruits (strawberries, melons, grapes, etc), muffins and coffee and tea. This is available for three hours in the morning. The late afternoon has a wine hour, with platters of cheese, crackers and nuts. Three bus routes run in front of the hotel and go to the financial district, ferry building and over to the Richmond area. Transfers are available to other lines The cable car and Union Square, however, is six blocks away. Generally speaking, for the money it is a good buy. Score 5 out of 5 Great location, rooms, and service Barbara, New York, NY, 2006-05-30 Don't bother to rent a car if you plan to remain in the downtown area. You can buy a day pass for public transportation, including cable cars and get wherever you want to go. Also, there are ferries from Fisherman's Wharf to Sausalito and Tiberion. The Beresford Arms Hotel has a good downtown location a few blocks from Union Square and Market Street. Offer complementary continental breakfast and afternoon tea, including wine and cheese. Older building, newly renovated. Rooms large and clean. Bathroom large, newly renovated. No airconditioning, but not needed in cool, breezy San Francisco. Definitely good value and would recommend it highly. Score 5 out of 5 Good location Norman, Cedar Rapids, IA, 2005-10-01 No maps were available of the area, with the exception of the generic booklet that is published for the local hotels - and it is not very good. With the exception of the Continental breakfast, everything was very nice. There should have been more wholesome or healthy choices besides the fruit, however the wine and cheese parties at 4:30 p.m. were a nice touch. One compaint would be that there was no hair-dryer in the room. Most hotels provide that amenity now. The concierge was very helpful in providing information on bus service to Golden Gate Park. |
