Whether traveling on business or for pleasure, the renovated La Quinta Inn San Diego Old Town is an excellent choice. Located in Historic Old Town, you are in the middle of an eclectic blend of food, fun, and culture of downtown San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter. From here, walk to a variety of shops and restaurants, or visit Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and the area's renowned beaches. We are close to Petco Park (MLB Padres), Qualcomm Stadium (NFL Chargers), and the Convention Center.

During your San Diego vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
San Diego Harbor Excursion
This company also offers daily 1- and 2-hour narrated tours of the bay, using its fleet of seven boats ranging from a 1940s passenger launch to a modern, paddlewheel-style vessel. The 1-hour itinerary covers 12 miles, including the Star of India, the U.S. Navy surface fleet, the San Diego-Coronado Bridge, and shipyards; the 25-mile 2-hour route adds the Submarine Base and North Island Naval Air Station. In winter, whale-watching excursions feature naturalists from the Birch Aquarium. The 2-hour Sunday brunch cruise aboard a sleek yacht is popular; dinner cruises sail nightly.
Junipero Serra Museum
Perched on a hill above Old Town, this Spanish mission-style structure overlooks the slopes where, in 1769, the first mission, first presidio, and first non-native settlement on the west coast of the United States and Canada were founded (in 1774 the San Diego Mission was relocated 6 miles up Mission Valley; see below). The museum's recently upgraded exhibits introduce visitors to the Native American, Spanish, and Mexican people who first called this place home. On display are their belongings, from cannons to cookware; a Spanish furniture collection; and one of the first paintings brought to California, which survived being damaged in an Indian attack. Follow the stairs up the tower and notice the map mural which documents the arduous journey Father Serra made to San Diego. From the 70-foot tower, visitors can compare the view with historic photos to see how this land has changed over time. Designed by William Templeton Johnson in 1929, the stately building can be seen from miles around. (And incidentally, the Spanish revival structures on the opposite side of the valley are contemporary and part of the University of San Diego.)The settlement remained San Diego's only European village until the 1820s, when families began to move down the hill into what is now Old Town. An archaeological dig on the lower slopes is ongoing to uncover more of the items used by early settlers. The large cross overlooking the site is made of floor tile from the presidio ruins. Presidio Park, which was established around the museum, is a nice place for a picnic.
Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Downtown
Opened in 1993, the downtown branch is the second location of the Museum of Contemporary Art (the original branch is in La Jolla). Two large and two smaller galleries present changing exhibitions of nationally and internationally distinguished contemporary artists; plan to spend about half an hour here. Lectures and tours for adults and children are also offered. The first Thursday evening of every month is "TNT" (Thursday Night Thing), with eclectic artist events and drawing the martini set. In 2005 MCA will take over the baggage building of the Santa Fe depot across the street, which will almost triple the exhibition space at this branch, making it the preeminent museum in downtown. Docent tours are available on request.

Friendly, helpful Staff
Donna
Croce's Restaurant is only a few minutes drive from the hotel. The restaurant is run by Jim Croce's widow. The friendly staff and the excellent food should be savored and enjoyed your next trip to San Diego.
LaQuinta Inn, Old Town, San Diego is an excellent place to stay! The staff was friendly and extremely helpful. I am sure this hotel succeeds because of the degree of attention the employees pay to detail and the comfort of the guests. My husband is handicapped and we often have difficulty with rooms being too small, showers not wide enough etc. The rooms met all of our needs and were very comfortable and clean. I usually don't write reviews, but this outstanding staff deserves recognition.
Great location to all we needed

There are some nice restaurants close to this hotel that we walked to, good food and afordable prices and also the train that goes downtown is only a few blocks away.
Well may husband an I had a great time at La quinta in Old Town San Diego. Every one was really nice to us. The continental breakfast was delicious we enjoyed every item in the hotel breakfast. This hotel is now our favorite. It's pretty close to the highway the malls teh restaurants are right there we walked every time. And more important to us was how close the hotel is to the beaches 5 to 7 min away.Isn't that awesome? We enjoyed every single day at the hotel and on the beaches close to it. WE had our best vacation so far. So if you are going to San Diego I recomend you the La Quinta Old Town because it's really close to all you need to make you vacation more plesant and fun fun fun!
My review of La Quinta Inn San Diego Old Town
Francisco, 2006-12-28
Great restaurants in the area. All walking distant. Berta's Latin American Restaurant, at Congress St, Old Town, served us fantastic food, wine and beer. They offer unique dishes from many different countries from Latino America as well as wine and bear.
The La Quinta Inn in Old Town, SAN DIEGO, California was a great find for us. I had two connecting rooms with very comfortable beds. Very quiet room in a great area near great restaurants and easy to get to any location in San Diego. The staff was very attentive from the start.

Excellent Mexican restaurants a few blocks away from the Hotel.
The room was comfortable, and the wireless internet was fast. It is very near to many excellent Mexican restaurants in Old Town, and 10 minutes walk to the Trolley station. The only feature that I missed was a business center where I could print or send faxes.
