During your San Diego vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Knott's Soak City USA
Themed to replicate San Diego's surfer towns around the 1950s and 1960s, this 32-acre water park is San Diego's only facility of its type. There are 22 slides of all shapes and sizes, a 500,000-gallon wave pool, a 1/4-mile lazy river, and assorted snack facilities. The park is located about 25 minutes south of downtown, just north of the border line.
Whaley House
In 1856, this striking two-story brick house (the 1st one in these parts) was built for Thomas Whaley and his family. Whaley was a New Yorker who arrived via San Francisco, where he had been lured by the gold rush. It's probably an urban legend that Whaley's house is designated as "one of only two authenticated haunted houses in California," yet 10,000 schoolchildren visit each year to see for themselves. Besides, no one can really explain why photos taken inside the house often develop with foggy apparitions (apparently, four spirits haunt the structure). Exhibits include a life mask of Abraham Lincoln, one of only six made; the spinet piano used in the movie Gone with the Wind; and the concert piano that accompanied Swedish soprano Jenny Lind on her final U.S. tour in 1852. In back is the cottage that was San Diego's first drugstore (dating to 1867) -- it now houses a shop selling attractive Native American art and jewelry. And the nice shop in front is run by the Save Our Heritage Organisation, which offers beautiful Arts & Crafts pottery, architecture-themed books, and crafts.
Chula Vista Nature Center
Sweetwater Marsh is one of San Diego's top bird-watching spots, and the nature center provides walking trails and a facility for experiencing the bird life, as well as stingrays and small sharks in kid-level open tanks. There's a walk-through aviary of shore birds, and other aviaries feature raptors and burrowing owls. The parking lot is located away from the center and a shuttle bus ferries guests between the two points.

Good for short stays , close to everything.

Heidi, Milwaukee, WI, 2007-03-03

Ricky's Diner down the street has a great breakfast menu, with great prices. Albie's Steak house also, great dinning, no rush, very resonable prices and the nicest staff. We spent half a day in Old Town . Eat at Coyote Cafe!!! AAA is right across the freeway from the hotel, stop in for free maps for members.

We appreciated the ease to enter the freeway and the amount of dinning options on the same street as the hotel. The furnishings were nice and so was the decor. Not a lot to do for the kids if you want to stay at the hotel all day, but who does that in San Diego?

Small Rooms and Poor Beds

Jack, Ontario, CA, 2007-03-02

Town and Country Conference Center

We choose the Best Western Seven Sea because of it's proximity to the Town and Country Conference Center and the price. Next time I will spend the extra money! The rooms were tiny and dark. The shower water pressure was poor and the beds were lousy. An order of toast at the restaurant was three dollars and the in room water was two-fity. The in room coffee was good and our refrigerator, although small, was a nice feature. The grounds are the best part of this property. Very tropical and clean.

Shamu and Dolphins are only 10 minuts away!

My boyfriend and I found this place and to be honest, we did not expect anything special but we were wrong! Hotel staffs were nice and friendly and it took us just a few minutes to complete c/i process. The room that we got was very clean and nice. They have a complimentary internet access and print service and the city map we got from the front desk had directions to all the main tourist place. And everything is not too far from this hotel. If we have a chanse to go to San Diego, we are sure that we will stay at this Best Western Seven Seas again!

Great place to stay.

Melanie, Oakland, CA, 2007-02-10

Very nice cafe in the hotel that makes the best tortilla soup. Had it 4 nights in a row and would do it again.

The Best Western Seven Seas was very Clean and comfortable. It was located near the airport and near where we needed to be for our business. We felt very safe and secure in the Hotel area and in our room. I will definitely stay there again and not just for business. Next time I would like it to be for pleasure. Maybe even a honeymoon!

Great Service

A short walk to the trolley bus stop links you to the tour of San Diego. It's worth taking the tour to help decide what areas of the city you want to check out further. Trolley drivers act as tour guides - some are better than others.

We arrived at the hotel early in the afternoon, before the room was ready. The hotel staff put our luggage away safely, checked us in, and gave us excellent advice about the trolley bus tour of San Diego. They provided a map, and pointed out the trolley stop. When we returned to the hotel in the evening, we reclaimed our luggage, and asked for directions to SeaWorld. The hotel has a shuttle bus to SeaWorld, which leaves at 9:30a.m, and picks up from SeaWorld at 5:30pm. - an excellent day out. The restaurant provides lots of choices, and again, the staff is very pleasant. If we ever go back to San Diego, we would definitely return to the Seven Seas, and will recommend it to friends.
