During your San Diego vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Old Town State Historic Park
Dedicated to re-creating the early life of the city from 1821 to 1872, this is where San Diego's Mexican heritage shines brightest. The community was briefly Mexico's informal capital of the California territory; the Stars and Stripes were finally raised over Old Town in 1846. Seven of the park's 20 structures are original, including homes made of adobe; the rest are reconstructed. The park's headquarters is at the Robinson-Rose House, 4002 Wallace St., where you can pick up a map and peruse a model of Old Town as it looked in 1872. Among the park's attractions are La Casa de Estudillo, which depicts the living conditions of a wealthy family in 1872; and Seeley Stables, named after A. L. Seeley, who ran the stagecoach and mail service in these parts from 1867 to 1871. The stables have two floors of wagons, carriages, stagecoaches, and other memorabilia, including washboards, slot machines, and hand-worked saddles. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, costumed park volunteers reenact life in the 1800s with cooking and crafts demonstrations, a working blacksmith, and parlor singing. Free 1-hour walking tours leave weekdays at 11am, and Saturday-Sunday at 2pm, from the Robinson-Rose House. Note that on weekdays throughout the school year, Old Town buzzes with fourth-graders.
Knott's Soak City USA
Themed to replicate San Diego's surfer towns around the 1950s and 1960s, this 32-acre water park is San Diego's only facility of its type. There are 22 slides of all shapes and sizes, a 500,000-gallon wave pool, a 1/4-mile lazy river, and assorted snack facilities. The park is located about 25 minutes south of downtown, just north of the border line.
Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego Downtown
Opened in 1993, the downtown branch is the second location of the Museum of Contemporary Art (the original branch is in La Jolla). Two large and two smaller galleries present changing exhibitions of nationally and internationally distinguished contemporary artists; plan to spend about half an hour here. Lectures and tours for adults and children are also offered. The first Thursday evening of every month is "TNT" (Thursday Night Thing), with eclectic artist events and drawing the martini set. In 2005 MCA will take over the baggage building of the Santa Fe depot across the street, which will almost triple the exhibition space at this branch, making it the preeminent museum in downtown. Docent tours are available on request.

Great people, Hotel is falling down
Brandon, Prescott, AZ
Hennesseys has very good breakfast and theres a coupon book at the front desk for half off meals.
The first night the power went out and our heater didnt work. To make things right they moved us to a nicer room with a kitchen for the rest of our stay. Overall its a nice place with very nice people working there. The hotel is very old and its age is starting to show. Its very close to the beach and walking distance to a lot of resturants.
Very nice staff, good place to stay.

Very nice, helpful staff, building older but still in good shape, neighborhood lively, lot of places to eat. Next time in San Diego, we will probably call here first.
My review of Beach Haven Inn
Bert, 2007-02-21
The Beach Haven Inn in Pacific Beach, San Diego was located a short block from the beach and just north west of Mission Bay. It was very spacious and comfortable as we had a kitchen and separate bedroom at a reasonable price. We particularly enjoyed the hot tub and pool.
very dirty,water damage to room
Mary, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-11-06
we checked in at 9 pm after a 4 hr flight with very crabby kids. We ended up getting to our room and found water damage, mold in bathroom, very dreary room. We ended staying in the room due to it being so late at nite and it was our first time there. We checked out the next day! We ended up being late for the Marine graduation as that is the reason why we traveled to San Diego. Additionally our baby has chronic Asthma and hystoplasmosis, which is why the moldy, water damage room wouldnt fit our needs.
An Insult to Guests
Dawn, 2006-06-05
We checked in late and my husband, who was older and exhausted, instantly fell asleep. While he snored, Room 112 (June 4, 2006) revealed itself as a disgusting experience because: 1. The carpet was wet and produced a sour odor in the room and on anything that was set on the floor. 2. The bathroom walls were made of peeling wallpaper holding up the crumbling plaster and disintegrating baseboards. 3. The old, tiny bathroom sink would fill up with water and very, very slowly drain. 4. The sink cabinets were a ruin of broken and unpainted wood. 5. Paint was falling off the bathroom door. 6. Black marks were on the bedspread and blanket. 7. Screens were falling off the windows. 8. No remote for the TV even after requesting one. This room was in dire need of renovation and should not have been made available to guests. My skin still crawls when I think of this room. The manager was not gracious and would not even discount the room.
