California State Railroad Museum
Well worth visiting, this museum is the highlight of Old Sacramento. You won't miss much if you bypass the memorabilia displays and head straight for the museum's 105 shiny locomotives and rail cars, beautiful antiques that are true works of art. Afterward, you can watch a 20-minute film on the history of the Western railroads that's quite good, then peruse related exhibits that tell the amazing story of the building of the transcontinental railroad. This museum is not just for train buffs: Over half a million people visit each year, and even the hordes of schoolchildren that typically mob this place shouldn't dissuade you from visiting one of the largest and best railroad museums in the country. Allow about 2 hours to see it all.From April to September, on weekends and holidays from 11am to 5pm, steam locomotive rides carry passengers 6 miles along the Sacramento River. Trains depart on the hour from the Central Pacific Freight Depot in Old Sacramento, at K and Front streets. Fares are $6 for adults and children ages 13 and older, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for children under 6.

California State Capitol
Closely resembling a scale model of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., the beautiful, domed California state capitol was built in 1869 and renovated in 1976. Sacramento's most distinctive landmark, the capitol has been the stage of many political dramas in California history. The 1-hour guided tours provide insight into the building's architecture and the workings of the government it houses. Note: Security will ask you to put your purse or backpack through a metal detector.

Crocker Art Museum
This museum houses an outstanding collection of California art, as well as changing exhibits from around the world. It's in an imposing century-old Italianate building, with an ornate interior of carved and inlaid woods. The Crocker Mansion Wing, the museum's most recent addition, is modeled after the Crocker family home and contains works by Northern California artists from 1945 to the present. Plan to spend about an hour here.

Very close to McDonalds annd a nice sit down place.

I HAD TO KEEP ASKING FOR IRON, WASH CLOTHS, & EXTRA PILLOW AND NO ONE ANSWERED THE PHONE AT DESK WHEN i CALLED ONE TIME FOR ASSISSTANCE AND THE FOOD FOR BREAKFAST WAS NOT PLENTIFUL. WE DID LIKE THE LOCATION.

Noisy

We stayed at the Super 8 Discovery Park in Sacaramento for one night. Our flight got in late and we did not arrive until around midnight. I called to notify them of this and they had our room info ready so we had a fast check-in. Our plan was to get up the next morning and drive to Tahoe so we were looking for a good night's sleep before the rest of our trip. This hotel was VERY noisy!!! It was right next to a road that had people racing up and down it all night long. Also we could hear people in other rooms talking almost all night. Even though the rooms were clean, and the price was good, we would not stay here again, even for just one night.

Nice room but that is all

Short drive to downtown and Sacramento River.

The room itself was comfortable with a seperate table for eating or working but the towels and shower were less than desirable. The towels were very thin and stained (Luckily I had a beach towel in my luggage). And the parking is very hard to get in and out of especially if you have a large car or SUV. It was close to downtown but the entrance is a little trecherous to get in and out.

Very good for Business stay

It is very close to the Sacramento River.

This was a good place to stay for the price and closeness to town. There isn't a pool or anything but I didn't need to pay for that on this trip. It is a good price for a clean place to stay on a quick stop over. there are plenty of places to eat close by and very close to the fwy but thats ok for a night or two. You could hear some nose from the traffic on the freeway, but again it is ok for a night or two. I wouldn't want to pay any more per night for this room. It was just right for being close to where I needed to be the next morning.

This was my least favorite of 7 moderately-priced motels I stayed in on a recent trip. Everything was adequate, and the room was clean, although the carpet was stained in many places. There seemed to be a necessity for high security in the lobby, the manager was not very friendly and didn't seem to care about me one way or the other. Breakfast was juice, coffee, and a basket of cellophane-wrapped pastries in a dark and unappealing corner. I think I'd prefer to stay at the Super 8 on the opposite side of I-5, where I initially went by mistake. It had a much nicer feel to the lobby, and the staff there was friendly and helpful.

Great staff, okay location

Downtown is only an exit away.

The people the work at the motel were helpful and took the time to make sure you were satisfied. The building is kept well, and the rooms are sufficient in size and are generally clean. For the price, it's a great value.
