During your Sacramento vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Crocker Art Museum
This museum houses an outstanding collection of California art, as well as changing exhibits from around the world. It's in an imposing century-old Italianate building, with an ornate interior of carved and inlaid woods. The Crocker Mansion Wing, the museum's most recent addition, is modeled after the Crocker family home and contains works by Northern California artists from 1945 to the present. Plan to spend about an hour here.
Sutter's Fort State Historic Park
John Sutter established this outpost in 1839, and the park, restored to its 1846 appearance, aims to recapture the spirit of 19th-century California. Exhibits include a blacksmith's forge, cooperage, bakery, and jail -- and a self-guided audio tour is available. Demonstrations and reenactments in costume are staged daily Memorial Day to Labor Day, when admissions are bumped to $4 for adults and $1 for children 6 to 16.
California State Capitol
Closely resembling a scale model of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., the beautiful, domed California state capitol was built in 1869 and renovated in 1976. Sacramento's most distinctive landmark, the capitol has been the stage of many political dramas in California history. The 1-hour guided tours provide insight into the building's architecture and the workings of the government it houses. Note: Security will ask you to put your purse or backpack through a metal detector.

Great place to stay in downtown Sacto
Richard, San Luis Obispo, CA, 2006-09-28
This hotel is very comfortable, in a very nice neighborhood very convenient to all downtown Sacramento activities. The only limitation is that their parking supply is somewhat short. Plan to arrive early so you can get a spot before they fill up.

Go for a jog in Capitol Park.
Good Location

The hotel is near the park and in walking distance to the Convention Center and restaurants. The area is a little desolate at night because it is near government buildings. The staff was great and they offer free continental breakfast - bagels, pastry, fruit, juice, coffee, tea and a free newspaper. Nice atrium area to hang out in.
Very comfortable.... Quiet

Simon's was located on 16th stree. The chinese food was fantastic. Small restaurant with a bar and lots of local people. Not a big commercial chain.
Our stay was very pleasant. The room was quiet and well appointed... We will stay there again. The girl at the front desk referred us to a restaurant across the street, "Simon's" it was excellant.
perfect for whatever

Excellent location - 1 block from Capitol Park. Easy walking to west end restaurants as well.
Good Business amenities
J R, Hartford, CT, 2005-05-12
I found the Inn off Capitol Park a very pleasant surprise. It's in a charming location very convenient to area businesses. I was especially pleased that the hotel offered both high speed and wireless Internet connectivity--something not always found in hotels of this size. The staff was pleasant, friendly and efficient. The continental breakfast was probably a bit substandard but still adequate. I would definitely stay there again.
