Great location. The Best Western Sandman Motel was redone since last I was there. What a change! The front desk was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and fresh, and I would definitely stay there again. Score 5 out of 5 Review Gregory, Chicago, IL, 2006-07-27 No review provided by user Score 1 out of 5 What a Dump! Bruce, 2006-05-23 1. If you go into Old Sacramento, do not eat at Annabelle's. They have the dirtiest restaurant, which serves disgusting pizza and pasta. Instead, go to Round Table. 2. The candy store by the schoolhouse in Old Sacramento lets you eat samples of tons of their candy (for free!). 3. Sutter's Fort: double-check prices!Upon our arrival, we were overcome by a very strong smell of bleach in our room and had to leave the fan on and the window open the rest of the day. Our family of four stayed here, sharing a queen-sized bed and a sofa-bed. The sofa-bed was broken on one corner and we had to stack sofa cushions underneath that section, so our feet didn't fall through. Another section had broken springs, which meant we had to layer towels underneath the mattress, so we wouldn't be able to feel them. The queen-sized bed felt like it was made of concrete and was very lumpy (as were the pillows). Needless to say, none of us slept that night. Prior to our arrival, we requested extra blankets, which were not provided. When we asked the desk clerk, he gave us one and told us he would provide another, which never arrived. We had to ask for extra towels, as they only provided enough for two people. The grounds and koi pond were unkempt and gross, as was the pool, which was full of filth and totally unusable. Score 4 out of 5 restful Anonymous, 2006-05-21 This is close to downtown and Old Sacramento. Try Joe's Crab Shack which is a short drive from the hotel. The hotel is quiet and located right by the river with a gated entrance to the River Walk. After the first night I did have to change rooms because the people upstairs could be heard walking around. Over all it was restful, which is why I chose this property. Also, they are pet friendly. Score 5 out of 5 Very close and convenient to downtown Sacramento Anonymous, 2006-05-10 Old Town Sacramento is only a couple minute drive or 15 minute walk along the Sacramento River. Once you arrive at Old Town, there are numerous restaurants to dine and great shopping, not to mention a good lesson on California's 19th century history. Not only was the Best Western Sandman easy to locate and close to the state capitol, it was very clean, inviting and affordable. The staff were very knowledgable and hospital. The hotel also included a generous breakfast, as an additional value added service. I also liked the fact that the guest rooms included a sofa with coffee table which allowed me to work on my computer in a more relaxed manner rather than having to sit at a desk in the corner of the room. Overall, a great stay for the value! Score 5 out of 5 Great for Short Stay Anonymous, Seattle, WA, 2006-03-30 There's a nice walking trail along the river just behind hotel!I was pleased that this hotel offered a free shuttle to and from the airport (between 9am and 7pm.) They also had a free continental breakfast and free wireless high speed internet. For the price, no other hotel offered as near as many amenities. Great choice, clean, simple, and a great value. Highly Recommend! Score 5 out of 5 Review Judi, Portland, OR, 2006-03-06 Yreka is a quaint little town with lots of history. Would love to go back some day and stay afew days exploring.Score 5 out of 5 Large, comfortable room Anonymous, 2005-11-04 There is a restaurant next door, and at least two other restaurants and fast food places nearby. The room was large and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. There were several nice touches, such as iron and ironing board, hair dryer, coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave. This is a good location, as there is easy access to downtown without actually being downtown. The location just off the freeway is also nice. Score 5 out of 5 Great Overall Comfort and Value Anonymous, 2005-10-06 The Best Western Sandman was a very comfortable, functional, and pretty room. The granite countertop in the bathroom was beautiful and the extended/rounded shower curtain rod provide a nice amount of extra room in the shower (no cold, wet, body-clinging curtain). The 2 chairs and table provided a nice amount of extra room and comfort. Having a real closet with mirrored doors was a nice bonus. The hotel is located just a mile or two from downtown with quite a few restaurants within walking distance. |
