During your Sacramento vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
California State Capitol
Closely resembling a scale model of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C., the beautiful, domed California state capitol was built in 1869 and renovated in 1976. Sacramento's most distinctive landmark, the capitol has been the stage of many political dramas in California history. The 1-hour guided tours provide insight into the building's architecture and the workings of the government it houses. Note: Security will ask you to put your purse or backpack through a metal detector.
Crocker Art Museum
This museum houses an outstanding collection of California art, as well as changing exhibits from around the world. It's in an imposing century-old Italianate building, with an ornate interior of carved and inlaid woods. The Crocker Mansion Wing, the museum's most recent addition, is modeled after the Crocker family home and contains works by Northern California artists from 1945 to the present. Plan to spend about an hour here.
Sutter's Fort State Historic Park
John Sutter established this outpost in 1839, and the park, restored to its 1846 appearance, aims to recapture the spirit of 19th-century California. Exhibits include a blacksmith's forge, cooperage, bakery, and jail -- and a self-guided audio tour is available. Demonstrations and reenactments in costume are staged daily Memorial Day to Labor Day, when admissions are bumped to $4 for adults and $1 for children 6 to 16.

Clean and quiet

Anonymous, 2007-03-14

Only Jack in the Box close by to dine out at. Would be nice if there was an ice machine on each floor instead of just on the first floor.

Best Western John Jay was very clean, quiet, and comfortable for the price. The location was a little difficult to find. Freeway access was good. Dining options in Best Western and the area are minimal at best.

Very good location next to freeway, but quiet

Anonymous, Portland, OR, 2006-06-13

Just one exit to the south had tons of resturants, or a short drive north on Stockton.

The hotel was fairly new, had plenty of options for staying. Rooms and bathrooms were large and well laid out. I liked the seperate vanity. Included all the things you needed to spend a night, Blowdryer, ironing board etc. Good free breakfast. You could see the freeway from the room, but you could not hear any traffic.
