Nice Motel

I was there on a family visit and I have the following observations. The free breakfast left something to be desired. I did not bring my laptop with me, which was a good thing because I would have needed to use dial up and pay for the phone time. I realize that most people staying here are personel travlers and not likely to want intertnet connections. I would not stay here if I were on a business trip, I might stay here on a personel trip.

Great Hotel in the Santa Cruz Area

I would recomend exploring the restaurants in either nearby Capitola or Santa Cruz. There is a great variety of cuisine and lots of patio dining in summer. A couple favorites of mine for many years are Zelda's on the patio in Capitola and the Crows Nest on the beach at the yacht harbor in Santa Cruz.

If you want to escape the noise and crowds in Santa Cruz, but want a great hotel in the area, I would strongly suggest staying at the Best Western Seacliff Inn, in Aptos, CA. We found the staff extremely friendly and accomodating, the rooms were large and clean and a great breakfast included, served in the dining room.

Short drive to nearby beach and park.

Basic & affordable. No frills but fully functional. Close driving distance to Santa Cruz. Walking distance to Aptos village.

Decent Value

The Best Western Sea Cliff is a decent value . The hotel is close to beach and about a 45 min drive to the Monterey Aquarium. Originally our room was on the outside on the north end of the hotel. The room was very dark. Were able to change the room to a pool and garden view room which was much brighter. The down side is that the outer room had a free ethernet connection. The pool view room didn't have the ethernet connection on the phone and the signal from the free wifi was too weak to receive. One can receive free wi fi from the restraunt though. My son loved the Koi Pond and we enjoyed the free breakfast. The rooms could use some more sound insulation between them although the guests could share some of the blame. Street noise was a non issue in the rooms that I had. Overall a decent value.

Very Nice Pool Area

We were really pleased when we saw the pool at this motel and the dining room was a pleasant surprise. The room was as standard as you would expect, no pleasant or unpleasant surprises.
