Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Fun roger, Phoenix, AZ There were busses to take us to the dining and shopping area.We arrived for a Santa convention which began at 11:30am and check-in was at 4:pm. It took an hour to leave our luggage with the bell boy. At 5:pm, we checked-in and asked for our bags. There was a message on our telephone in our room that they attempted to deliver our things but we were not in. We called and waited another hour before our things were delivered. The rest of our stay was wonderful. The next morning we arranged for a car to take us to the airport, and when we arrived, discouvered that we had left our camera in the car. We called the hotel, they checked with the driver and he said there was NO camera in the back seat. We notified the hotel, made a lost report and were told they would call us to see if it turned up. We have heart NOTHING and still do not have our camera. Score 5 out of 5 A Step Back in Time Kristine, Washington, DC Make sure you take the time to walk the entire ship and view some of the exhibits they have.We stayed one night on the Queen Mary upon arriving in Long Beach Airport. It was the perfect way to start out our week long stay in California as we made our way up to coastline. It was so much fun to step back in time and spend a night on a former luxury cruiseliner. The rooms have many of the original features from when the boat was a luxury liner. It was fun to walk around the boat and see what things used to be like. The bed was small but very comfortable and we ate in one of the restaurants and it was excellent. I don't know if I would recommend staying there for more than a few days because the rooms are pretty small by today's standards but other than that we enjoyed ourselves on staying in this unique hotel. Score 5 out of 5 Living History Anonymous, 2007-03-13 There is alot in Long Beach or drive alittle farther and you have all of L.A.It may not be everyone cup of tea. You are taking a step back in time and staying in a living museum. If you have cruised you know what the rooms size is like but with a full bath. The restaurant(s) are fantastic and the service is there but not over the top. Score 5 out of 5 Review ALAN, 2007-03-11 There are alot of good places to eat from elegant dining to more casual. This Hotel would be a good stop over for those departing on the Carnival cruise Lines which are walking distance from the hotel.Score 5 out of 5 Wonderful Lawrence, 2007-02-11 My recent stay on the Queen Mary was a wonderful experience. The room was much larger than I expected, the decor of the hotel what I was hoping for,and the early check in for Cruises was worth whatever it cost to stay. Score 4 out of 5 Not your usual hotel Anonymous, San Diego, CA, 2007-02-05 The hotel is located about a mile from the Long Beach Convention center, and the harbor boardwalk has lots of shops and good dining places. (try Bubba Gump's, it's fun and the food is great) The Aquarium is right there also and is a great place to visit! If you want to stay in a ship cabin without the sea sickness, this is the place for you. It does have a lot of historical value and it's great to go exploring on. The food on board was very good though a little pricey. Most everyone working there was very helpful and friendly, however, the check-in and check-out was difficult at best. Though our room said it was remodeled in an art deco style, I found it lacking a great deal in conveying that period look (the bathroom actually looked the part the best). All in all, the beds were comfy, the room was good size (1st class cabin), and room service was fast and efficient. The best parts are it's historical value and the fact that it's a reasonably priced hotel located less than a mile from the Long Beach Convention center, shopping and great restaurants along the boardwalk. Score 5 out of 5 Beautiful, historical and fun April, San Francisco, CA, 2006-09-03 Seems like a lot of people don't but if you can dress up for dinner or a drink in the observation bar you will be rewarded with a little taste of what it must have really been like to cruise the Atlatic in the higest of style. We spent Labor Day Weekend with the Art Deco Society. Ship is absolutely beautiful and there is so much to explore we didn't leave the ship for two days - can't say that about many hotels! You really feel like you have stepped back in time to the elegant 1930's. The stateroom was spacious and convenient (more then a modern cruise ship!)with many of the original amenities - like the (non-operational on purpose) fan on the wall (there is AC)and "salt water" faucet handles (again, non-operational but original) in the bathtub. So interesting and charming. You can't help but wonder what celebrity may have stayed in that very room! I can't wait until we go back next year! Score 4 out of 5 My review of Queen Mary Hotel Anonymous, 2006-08-31 We were walking on the deck admiring the facility when a security guard approached us and abruptly told us, instead of asked us to leave the area. We went to another deck and did the same thing to us. There were no signs or ropes that would indicate that the area was closed to the public and so we did not know. He could have at least been courteous in letting us know. He seemed to be on a power trip. Not good! We were there to relax from a business meeting. Everyone else was very helpful and pleasant. Rooms and facilities were clean and the location was great. As hotel guests, we should not be charged to park our car unless we are valet parking. Score 5 out of 5 Try something different. MARGARET, Burbank, CA, 2006-08-27 Everything is nearby the Queen Mary. It's a great location if you're coming for vacation.I loved the decor of the room. I stayed in a suite with two twin beds. It was spacious and comfortable. The bathroom fixtures were restored original including knobs for "saltwater" or "freshwater" - charming!. The Sunday brunch was exceptional. Everything you could imagine to eat and delicious. Champagne flowed like water. The ice machine was broken but there were no directions on what to do (i.e. where the nearest operable ice machine was, call room service for ice, etc). We wandered around trying to resolve the ice issue and ultimately succeeded. I would definately stay there again. If you're tired of the same-old hotel, this is the way to go. Score 5 out of 5 Very friendly, good service. Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-08-22 Downtown Long Beach is readily available.A very comfortable and historic hotel. The staff was friendly and available. I'd stay here again. |
