Most recent user reviewsScore 3 out of 5 Just a place to hang your clothes Carol San Luis Obispo is a College Town. However, if you should arrive later in the evening, be aware that this town closes up early (at least on Sunday night). If you are hungry, you may have to drive up a few exits on the 101 freeway to find a coffee shop/restaraunt open. The Travel Lodge in San Luis Obispo is a place to stay in the event that ALL other hotel/motel properties are full. We arrived late at night, however the exterior seemed to be clean and with the pool at the front driveway, inviting. The lobby receptionist was friendly and courteous. The room was clean upon first look. We booked a Non smoking room and it smelled clean. The sheets on one of the beds was full of old 'burn' holes (cigarettes?) (I brought this to the manager's attention). The chairs at the table were stained and appeared to be dirty. I realize that this is a 'college' town and I'm sure that these small motels/motor lodges take a 'beating', however, the time has come for this motel to clean, re-upolster, or toss the stained chairs. A positive factor of the room is the refrigerator, microwave, and the Window in the bathroom. Other than the above, it is a lot of money for an average to below average room. The room was clean, but definately could be cleaner. Score 5 out of 5 Staff very helpful and friendly Anonymous, Dayton, OH Lots of antique shops and gift shops nearbyThe room was large and confortable. The separate kitchen area was a plus with a microwave and refrigerator. The hotel was well located near Highway 101 and Highway 1. The room had a map of the surrounding area with tourist attractions well marked and described. The hotel parking was convenient and the hotel very quiet. Score 5 out of 5 My review of San Luis Obispo Travelodge Anonymous There's a great Mexican food restaurant called Vallarto's just a couple of doors down. The Travelodge was comfortable, the room was larger than I had expected with a kitchen area and a table and two chairs. All the bathrooms have been recently remodeled, so they were very clean. Score 4 out of 5 Review JAMES, 2006-12-09 dont forget to pick up some apple cider at the APPLE FARM......its the bestScore 5 out of 5 A good choice Nancy, 2006-08-07 The Morning Buzz for breakfast on Santa Rosa or SPLASH just down the street on Monterey, a short walk.I was very satisfied with my stay. The front desk was very accomodating as far as putting us in a quiet room with easy access for my elderly parent;you can park in front of the rooms and have only one step to go up. The grounds are well kept with a beautiful view of the hills. Well located to CalPoly, the train station and downtown but very quiet. The room was clean with refrigerator and microwave, coffeemaker. The bathroom seemed newly remodeled. The linens were a bit worn but clean and AC worked great. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a good value, quiet, clean and welcoming place to stay in SLO! Score 5 out of 5 Close To Downtown Robert, Honolulu, HI, 2006-06-08 Only a short 10 minute walk for shoping and dining. Our stay at the Travelodge was enjoyable. Its only a 10 minute walk to downtown. The room was clean and the AC worked great. The staff was helpfull and the contenental breakfast was satisfying. Score 2 out of 5 disappointing Anonymous, Oxnard/Ventura, CA, 2006-04-01 Apple Farm has wonderful food! The room was clean. The bathroom was actually nice and seemed newly refurbished. We appreciated having a microwave and refrigerator in the room. That being said, the room felt sparse, old and not welcoming. What decor there was is outdated. A drawer seemed in need of repair. The bed was not the most comfortable. The night before we had stayed at a wonderful hotel so maybe the comparison made it worse. We stayed out all day because I couldn't face spending any more time than necessary in the room. The location was nice. Score 5 out of 5 Great location! Bruce Goto, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-02-12 Cal Poly and dinning close by.The Travel Lodge ha a great location right next to the Cal Poly Campus!!! Score 4 out of 5 Older property but clean Robert, 2005-12-11 If you are looking for an affordable motel near Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, this place is a good choice. It's an older looking motel in need of a curb appeal makeover, but the room was clean and the bed was good. The best feature was the recently redone bathroom. There's nothing like a good bathroom! Breakfast was prepacked pastries in the office along with coffee and juice. The desk staff was very friendly and gave us a great recommendation for where to stop for a full breakfast on our way out of town.
