During your Sacramento vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
California State Railroad Museum
Well worth visiting, this museum is the highlight of Old Sacramento. You won't miss much if you bypass the memorabilia displays and head straight for the museum's 105 shiny locomotives and rail cars, beautiful antiques that are true works of art. Afterward, you can watch a 20-minute film on the history of the Western railroads that's quite good, then peruse related exhibits that tell the amazing story of the building of the transcontinental railroad. This museum is not just for train buffs: Over half a million people visit each year, and even the hordes of schoolchildren that typically mob this place shouldn't dissuade you from visiting one of the largest and best railroad museums in the country. Allow about 2 hours to see it all. From April to September, on weekends and holidays from 11am to 5pm, steam locomotive rides carry passengers 6 miles along the Sacramento River. Trains depart on the hour from the Central Pacific Freight Depot in Old Sacramento, at K and Front streets. Fares are $6 for adults and children ages 13 and older, $3 for children 6 to 12, and free for children under 6.
Crocker Art Museum
This museum houses an outstanding collection of California art, as well as changing exhibits from around the world. It's in an imposing century-old Italianate building, with an ornate interior of carved and inlaid woods. The Crocker Mansion Wing, the museum's most recent addition, is modeled after the Crocker family home and contains works by Northern California artists from 1945 to the present. Plan to spend about an hour here.

there is a dennys that sharees the same parking lot. is walking distance to old sacrmaneto. short cab ride to shopping, dining and night life.
the vagabond inn, in old sacramento right off the freeway, and tucked in between major on and off ramps. expect it to be loud because of that. it may help to get a room that is facing south.
for the price it's a very good deal!

Don't go to Denny's next door... we got sick
Everything went smooth. We had some problems with the internet in the room, and they were able to fix the connection within an hour.... The best part of this place was the breakfast... good stuff... much more than we expected.
close to attractions

The complementary breakfast was great, good variety and the kids got to make their own waffles!
Tha Vagabond Executive Old Town was close to old town, Sutter's Fort, Capitol and the train museum. It was a good place to stay with children and there is a Denny's on the property. There is the noise of the freeway very close and the maids cleaning early in the morning, but overall, the staff was friendly and we had a nice experience.
good value and close to old town sacramento

the continental breakfast provided was great; well-stocked and fresh, and included in the rate.
Vagabond Inn Sacramento Oldtown Executive was a good place to stay for me and my family. the room was nothing out of the ordinary, but it did have a table and 2 chairs (which we didn't use), separate vanity in the bathroom, and plenty of clean towels. the place was clean, although our in-room coffee maker was not clean. i would have preferred ceramic and glass for the drinking cups instead of the styrofoam and plastic provided. all in all, we had a good experience at this hotel.
Very Nice
