Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Low key old world elegance Anonymous, Seattle, WA, 2006-11-08 Santa Maria is home to PCPA Theaterfest. They present very entertaining and moving productions in two theatres on the campus of Allan Hancock College and also perform outdoors on the Solvang Festival Stage in the summers. The Santa Maria Inn was pleasant once I found a parking space! There was plenty of parking but I was driving an unfamiliar rental car and it took a while to find a spot near the entrance to the hotel, since I really didn't want to park around back and have to lug my suitcase that far. The staff was very friendly and helpful; the sandwich I ordered at the tap room for a late evening dinner was delicious. The restaurants were not crowded and service was good. The room was small but cozy and had all of the amenities that I had time for. I would come back in a heartbeat, especially if I could arrange time for the pool/sauna/exercise room! Score 5 out of 5 Nice atmosphere Lisa, Los Angeles, CA, 2006-11-05 The Historic Santa Maria Inn was a very pleasant experience. The room was nice size with a separate bathroom and an additional sink which made it much easier for my sister, mother and I go get ready. The grounds were beautifully groomed. The restaurant was quiet and homey. We would highly recommend this to our friends and family. We were in the new part of the hotel - the 'Executive Tower' - I imagine rooms would have had more atmosphere in the older section of the hotel. Room-wise everything was satisfactory. Other amenities such as the pool/hot tub were above average. The cellar wine bar was definately the highlight of the hotel - don't miss it if you stay there. The Garden Room restaurant on the other hand serves overpriced, unimpressive food. Try to dine elsewhere, although the choice in the rest of the town appeared limited. Staff were friendly & helpful. However, if you find yourself running low on funds, there is a Jack in the box across the street also. Many resturants are on the same street as the hotel. The hotel, although not excellent, was great for me because of its age. I enjoy looking at history 'up close an personal'. From the moment I walked into the hotel, I could see the history of California and the area all around me. I was in town for a conference, so I didn't have an abundance of free time. When I returned to the hotel I found great pleasure in just taking walk through the winding hallways and the various eating establishments. Score 4 out of 5 Still good, but not as good as I remember it being! Grant, El Centro, CA, 2006-08-08 There is a shopping center and movie theatre a short drive away.I and my wife have stayed here in the past (but not in the last 8-10 years) and had found it very good. This time around we brought a 3 year old with us and things were different. The check-in personnel were excellent and helpful with our luggage, but the pool and jacuzzi were filled with leaves, the staff serving dinner were mistake prone, the bartender was rude, and the next morning the 20 year old check-out girl was inattentive and dour. We may stay there again, but if the next time is as the last we will go elsewhere in the future. P.S. The hotel was undergoing some renovation work, but the effects were minimal, and the workers were polite and helpful. That is because you'll need alot of it to stay here(75 cents per local call). Rooms in the Tower are large. I had the two queen sized beds. Nice large Windows. Nice to have a iron and board in the room. Forget about getting service in the bar on weekends.I even tried Heavy Tipping, in a vain attempt at glory. Way too packed with scantily clad females and Young PeacockY Males. Expect spilled Drinks and stepped on toes.PACKED The sandwich I ordered, Lacked the famous Santa Maria Beans(new employee forgot them). Some couple I met were testifying in Santa Maria,at a murder trial. Hope the State Gets a better Rate. Pool was closed .I wish I had been notified about that. OK, I WISH I COULD GO BACK THERE. IT WAS A Blast. |
