Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Location, location, location! Anonymous, Chicago, IL If you're not planning to rent a car, don't worry. The city's transportation system is excellent. The best feature of this Best Western was its proximity to downtown Long Beach and to the Pacific Coast Highway. I rented a car to get around, but if you don't, the city's transportation system is excellent. I was most disappointed in their response to a maintenance issue I had. The floor lamp wasn't working when I arrived and it still wasn't well I left. How hard would it have been to replace a bulb? Overall, a comfortable, clean hotel. Score 4 out of 5 Interesting Anonymous Just a quick ride to downtown Long Beach and to the pier.I was very favorably impressed with the hotel staff; they were friendly and professional. Nice clean rooms. I found the neighborhood somewhat intimidating; however, to be fair, I ventured outside after dark to explore food options...something I would not recommend for any woman in this neighborhood. Score 5 out of 5 Clean and comfortable Anonymous, Salt Lake City, UT, 2006-11-16 The Best Western of Long Beach is in a location that is downtown accessible with train service at the front door. The rooms are of good size and very comfortable with standard amenities that I look for in a motel, i.e. hair blower, iron and ironing board. The continental breakfast was good and consistently maintained. Because we were two women traveling alone, I did not particularly like the location where many of the stores or fast food areas had bars on windows separating staff from customer. Also, there are no adequate restaurants within walking distance of the motel. Score 5 out of 5 Very family friendly osbaldo, 2006-09-24 Beach was wonderful! We really enjoyed our stay at this motel. Score 5 out of 5 Good value for the money Anonymous, 2006-09-19 Dining is great at Pine and 4th street areaThe location is a few miles out of the way if you dont mind driving to dining, entertainment, etc. Good value for the money. Rooms were clean and supplied wi-fi a fridge as well as a continental breakfast in the morning. Although it was on a main road, the room was pretty quiet. Score 5 out of 5 Very friendly staff Gina, Milwaukee, WI, 2006-07-22 Walking distance to restaurants. The Best Western was a very clean and staff friendly place to stay. Check in time wasn't until 3:00pm but the staff was very accomodating in getting me my room early. It was very much appreciated because I was travling alone and this was my first time in Long Beach. The hotel was 5 minutes from Downtown where I had to go to the Convention Center and conviently located where everything you need is so excessible. I recommend this hotel for anyone who would like to save some money. Although it's no luxury high class hotel but it's right up there with them. Score 5 out of 5 gem in long beach proper Suzanne, Los Angeles, CA, 2005-10-22 The room was very clean. The maid brought us extra pillows after the first night. The bed was as comfortable as my home bed, which is really saying something compared to most hotels. The view from our room was awesome - all the way to the water... if there wasn't so much smog/fog. The continental breakfast was better than average with hot waffle irons and pre-mixed batter at the ready. There is a metro-rail stop right outside the hotel, a big plus at $3/day (and only $2 if you get your ticket from the scalper at the stop). The only downside is that you are about 2 miles from the good part of long beach and the local shops are pretty seedy (note that there is a scalper at the metro stop who states he scalps rail tickets because it is better than selling drugs). Overall, I would probably stay there again. By the way, the fine print on the free-shuttle is that it only runs to and from the cruise ships when they are there... not a true free way to get around Long Beach. Score 1 out of 5 felt unsafe and unclean Anonymous, 2005-08-07 The hotel is about 10 blocks from Long Beach Memorial Hospital.Upon arrival, I was unable to GET INTO the hotel driveway as two police cars were blocking the entrance. The parking garage did not feel secure. The pool was small and less than clean. There was alot of late night loitering in the surrounding neighborhood. I was unable to access messages waiting for me with my room telephone. The front desk staff was not overly friendly or helpful. Score 4 out of 5 1 night stay Annette, Seattle, WA, 2005-06-22 When I checked in I was informed that a $200 deposit would be 'held' on my debit card until after I checked out. I was not aware of this so was a bit dismayed, and not very pleased, about it. The hotel was fine but, for the area (not a real pleasant part of Long Beach), I thought it was overpriced. I stayed at the Best Western of Riverside on 6/26 and paid $25 less for the same accomodations, similar location of the city compared to LB. The pool was not open until 10 AM, which was when we were checking out, so that wasn't great. We wanted to go swimming at 8 AM and, with the pool bordering the street in front of the hotel, I cannot imagine how the noise of someone swimming would impact guests any differently than the traffic from the street, including the rail station directly in front of the hotel. There was not a restaurant in the hotel or on premises. |
