Family Friendly

A very nice clean beach with alot of white sand.

The hotel has a nice cozy atmosphere. The rooms are large with plenty of space for luggage. The only thing I felt could be changed was to update the bathroom. The tub was stained and the tub faucet leaks. The bathroom sink counter is very small and under the sink was filled with lint and dirt. Otherwise, the room would have been grea with the exception of the bathroom.

A different type of lodging in Carmel

Andrew, Oakland, CA, 2006-12-28

If you head into Carmel, go down Ocean Avenue, and head to the end of the street at the city beach. A dog friendly area, with great walking areas and amazing sunsets. Also, the 17 Mile Drive Carmel Gate is nearby.

The Carmel Resort Inn is a fun and unique way to stay on the Monterey Peninsula. First off, the rooms are all cabins, which at first glance looked rutic, but once inside, were very spacious and well appointed. Much nicer than your average motel, the room featured a flat screen television, a faux fire place (that was the room heater) new carpeting and a spacious closet to hang clothes. The room even had a mini fridge, coffee maker and microwave. A nice sized, simple bathroom and a small table were also inside. And the room did have a pair of chairs outside to sit (weather permitting). The only negatives to the Inn were its proximity to downtown Carmel (really too far to walk), and the fact it's on some very narrow streets. If you are not watching carefully, you can miss the place, and turing around is tough. (But that is an issue throughout Carmel). I really enjoyed my stay, and found for the value, it was worth the short drive to downtown. Also, the breakfast was very plain and simple, but if you are not a big eater like me, there was plenty of food to start the day. If you want fancy and luxury, this is not your place. And if you want a national chain motel, this is also not your place. But if you want something fun, different and reasonable, this is worth money.

Very family friendly

Downtown Carmel is a short drive or very long walk.

Very quaint and roomy bungalows. Gardens are lovely. I liked the fact that they had refrigerators, microwaves and popcorn popper. Also we had a two bedroom one bath bungalow but the master bedroom had a vanity with a sink that was great in addition to the full bath. Also had a gas fireplace. Very cozy.

Quaint

Sherrie, Tampa, FL, 2006-11-11

A 15 minute walk to the beach and 10 minutes to downtown Carmel.

The rooms are small and quaint. Our room needed some updating especially in the bathroom and I went and bought a candle to remove some of the musty smell. With the price and location we would stay again.

Cute, spacious and comfortable.

Ocean Avenue has a lot of very nice shops and restaurants. I recommend PortaBella, they have the best Crab Bisque soup I have ever tasted. The beach is just a short walk down Ocean Avenue from the shops. Pick up lunch or dinner and eat on the beach.

The Carmel Resort Inn was much bigger than I expected. We had a living area, and two seperate bedrooms. Each bedroom had it's own sink, counter and hair dryer. I loved having the gas fireplace for ambiance and even though it was still summer, it was chilly that night and it was nice to be able to warm up. The location was just blocks from downtown Carmel and the beach. I would definitely stay there again.

best deal in town

Know that it is a couple of miles from the beach, on the northwest side of Carmel

PRetty good value for the money, as long as you are not expecting fancy. One of the best deals in Carmel. Room was comfy enough, and though it's an older motel, it's very adequate.

Super quiet

Don't miss Carmel beach. The town is also quaint and good for shopping and great restaurants.

The hotel consists of what I guess were old converted homes into cottages. They are quaint, but dated. The rooms each had a bed with a door inbetween for privacy. One of the bedrooms had a sink, microwave and refrigerator. The fireplace was nice. The bathroom had a small sink. Very quiet neighborhood for a good night's rest. We found the continental breakfast to be limited and there were not enough seats.
