Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 Horrible, Terrible maintenance, No comfort Robert, Albuquerque, NM When we arrived, rather late, the person at the desk was passive and unfriendly. Bed sagged, perhaps due to BEDBUGS which we found the next morning. None of the vending machines worked--had to buy sodas at he Comfort Inn next door. Tile falling off in the bathroom; mildew on walls in bathroom and sleeping area (smelled like mildew), only towels and wash cloths for one person, only one Styrofoam coffee cup (we are a couple but use 2 coffee cups). Continental breakfast was provided complete with paper plates and plastic flatware, and the toast actually popped from the toaster, did a flip in mid-air, and landed in the plastic spoon tray. When we complained about the room the answer, in her best Maxwell Smart impersonation, was, SORRY ABOUT THAT. NEVER AGAIN AT HOWARD JOHNSONS! Score 1 out of 5 most disgusting stay ever Anonymous, Oklahoma City, OK Blood on the pillow cases. Stains on the sheets. Cigarette burns on the blankets. Black sludge backing up through the sink in the morning. Worst hotel experience of my life. Score 2 out of 5 Needs Some Work James, Washington, DC More locations south of the hotel. The Howard Johnson Tucson was located in the downtown area, it had a pool, and was relatively close to some restaurants. However, the room I stayed in had a light wire that was broken and needed repair. Also, there wasn't enought electrical sockets for TV, lights, and coffee machine. I was surprised to (eventually) find a pole with hangers in the bathroom. One eating area was too smokey to eat in and the breakfast freebie could use a little more character. Score 2 out of 5 Needs Upgrade Ray, Orange County, CA, 2006-12-31 Howard Johnson Inn - Tucson Downtown was price friendly however the door to our room would not lock properly and overall the place needs renovation. The Check in staff was helpful and friendly. The staff that worked in the cont. breakfast in the morning obviously did not like their job and had bad people skills Score 3 out of 5 O.K. Value for Money Anonymous, Tucson, AZ, 2006-10-29 Short drive to downtown Tucson and the Tucson Convention Center. This is an old, inexpensive motel next to a freeway. It was a good value for the money, but I wouldn't want to spend many nights there. Score 2 out of 5 Cheap Motel John, Phoenix, AZ, 2006-09-29 The "non-smoking" room smelled like mildew and the walls, etc. were in need of repair. The area also had some gangster type influence with all the "bumpers" going by. I don't think I will stay here again unless I really, really have to. Score 2 out of 5 Scary Neighborhood Anonymous, 2006-09-26 There was a dining something in the lobby but we didn't go there and I think down the road there was a Wafflehouse and again we did not dare to go out at night and in the morning we had to get on the road and take care of our business. At one point some person walking by tried opening our door but it was locked- the person was doing it while walking past and not stopping. Also there were many insects- mosquitoes, gnats, and flies. Several items were broken but there was no need for us to use them. For the price we paid I wasn't expecting anything grand but made me re-think my choices for the future. Not everything cheap or on sale is a good thing. Score 4 out of 5 nice rooms william, Chicago, IL, 2006-03-20 room was clean a good value for the money close to ball parks and airport.
