The Royal Palms is a Spanish Mediterranean Estate par excellence. Its one hundred seventeen casitas and guestrooms serve as an oasis for guests seeking tranquility and solitude amidst a truly remarkable setting. The hotel is poised within the Valley of the Sun, in the beautiful Phoenix / Scottsdale resort community. Camelback Mountain, to the north, provides a striking visual backdrop. During the hotel's recent multi-million dollar restoration, architect Don Ziebell captured the integrity of the original 1929 mansion, by incorporating numerous architectural details to maintain an overall sense of authenticity and coherence. The attention to detail is stunning. The grounds feature whimsical stone walkways, manicured courtyards, hidden gardens, tinkling fountains and exotic foliage. Entering the mansion through huge mahogany and iron double doors, guests feel as if they have entered a lavish private residence, with plush sofas and chairs, a thick Turkish rug, tall, French windows, a wood burning fireplace and fresh flowers at the check-in-desk. An antique wooden table offers chilled lemonade and copies of The Arizona Republic to guests checking in. A trompe l'oeil Oriental rug in tiles greets guests in the entry zaguan. It is a grand reception, those first few steps into the hotel, and one that captures in microcosm the splendor of the Royal Palms experience. This is no ordinary establishment. We will be renovating our pool between 7/09/06 - 7/24/06. Sorry for any inconvenience.

During your Phoenix vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Hall of Flame Firefighting Museum
The world's largest firefighting museum houses a fascinating collection of vintage firetrucks. The displays date from a 1725 English hand pumper to several classic engines from the 20th century. All are beautifully restored and, of course, fire-engine red (mostly). In all, there are more than 90 vehicles on display.
Burton Barr Library
This library is among the most daring pieces of public architecture in the city, and no fan of futuristic art or science fiction should miss it. The five-story cube is partially clad in enough ribbed copper sheeting to produce roughly 17,500,000 pennies. The building's design makes use of the desert's plentiful sunshine to provide light for reading, but also incorporates computer-controlled louvers and shade sails to reduce heat and glare.
Deer Valley Rock Art Center
Located in the Hedgepeth Hills in the northwest corner of the Valley of the Sun, the Deer Valley Rock Art Center preserves an amazing concentration of Native American petroglyphs, some of which date back 5,000 years. Although these petroglyphs may not at first seem as impressive as those at more famous sites, the sheer numbers make this a fascinating spot. The drawings, which range from simple spirals to much more complex renderings of herds of deer, are on volcanic boulders along a quarter-mile trail. An interpretive center provides background information on this site and on rock art in general. From October through April, there are guided tours Saturdays at 10am and Tuesdays and Thursdays at 1pm. From May through September, there are tours on Saturdays at 7:30am.
