McFarland State Historic Park
This historic park consists of the former Pinal County Courthouse, which was built in 1878. Inside the old adobe building, you'll see some rooms that re-create the days when this was the courthouse and others that are furnished as they were when this was a hospital. Exhibits focus on local lynchings and Florence's World War II POW camp.

Wrigley Mansion
Situated on a hilltop adjacent to the Arizona Biltmore, this elegant mansion was built by chewing-gum magnate William Wrigley, Jr., between 1929 and 1931 as a present for his wife, Ada. Designed with Italianate styling, the many levels and red-tile roofs make it seem like an entire village. The mansion is now a National Historic Landmark, with the interior restored to its original elegance. Although this is currently a private club, membership is only $10 and basically gives you dining privileges.

Casa Grande Ruins National Monument
Located outside the town of Coolidge not far from Florence, this national monument preserves one of the most unusual Indian ruins in the state. In Spanish, Casa Grande means "Big House," and that's exactly what you'll find. In this instance, the big house is the ruin of an earth-walled structure built 650 years ago by the Hohokam people. It is speculated that the building was once some sort of astronomical observatory, but this is not known for certain. Whatever the original purpose of the building, today it provides a glimpse of a style of ancient architecture rarely seen. Instead of using adobe bricks or stones, the people who built this structure used layers of hard-packed soil, which have survived the ravages of the weather and still stand in silent testament to the Hohokam's long-ago architectural endeavors. The Hohokam began farming the valleys of the Gila and Salt rivers about 1,500 years ago, and eventually built an extensive network of irrigation canals for watering their fields. By the middle of the 15th century, the Hohokam had abandoned both their canals and their villages and disappeared without a trace.

Rather poor quality

Rooms were very dirty, tub/shower area, hotel staff was clearly uninterested in providing service (headphones on while checking in) sitting at the desk with feet up - very uninformed of the area (or just didn't care) In general the hotel was dirty and poor quailty furnishings, features, etc. This is one of the poorest I have seen even for this grade.

Mediocrity at it's finest.

The La Quinta Airport North, was entirely acceptable on all levels..as long as you don't expect too much. The Staff was great & very accomidating, but the property is older & well used. This Hotel also seems to lease space for a driving class of some kind, which means a loss of parking & non hotel guests on the facility. The abscence of a vending machine for snacks was dissapointing as well.

This property was one that we stayed at approximately 10 years ago when it was under different management. Since La Quinta took over the property, we found that the rooms were updated, clean, and quite comfortable. The price was manageable, and we weren't too far from the activities we were visiting for.

It was within a short drive to the airport and the airport was easy to find from the hotel.

The LaQuinta Inn Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport North was a good buy for the night I needed to stay before departing the airport. It had a nice front desk area and pool area. The rooms were worn, but clean. The front desk personnel were outstanding and very accommodating. The bath did not have a separate vanity area from the tub and toilet which was a little inconvenient. The continental breakfast was very adequate and featured freshly made waffles. The breakfast room was kept very clean.

Not Great, Just So-So

Scottsdale is about ten minutes away by car from this hotel but downtown Phoenix is 15-20 minutes away. Stay somewhere else if you need to be close to downtown.

This La Quinta Inn was adequate for our needs but nothing extra-special. We had to have three sets of key cards before they worked, our beds were not made nor trash emptied when we arrived back one day after 3 p.m., the elevator smelled, and a hand railing was not repaired by Thursday even when I had reported it on Monday on arrival. Staff was friendly even when telling me I had to pay extra for a court-side room. The included breakfast was very good and the waffles were delicious. The room itself was comfortable but nothing extra-special.

Handy to airport

Good place to stay for return car rental

We were at the La Quinta Inn near the Phoenix airport because we were to fly home the next day,so were there briefly after arriving in the evening. The location was great for returning our rental car and the desk person drew on a little map to show us where to go to do that. We went to a chain restaurant for a late supper that was very close by. The room was clean and we had a comfortable night's stay--overall we were satisfied and the price was right.
