good location

Betty, Orlando, FL

starbucks just a couple of miles down the road. Alot of great food downtown. The mexican food at the Indian Village is to die for.

Had a good time even tho the weather was the worst. couldn't enjoy the outside or pool, due to the rain.

Great quiet get away

Anonymous, 2007-03-10

Frog were great casual eating.

Carefree resort was overall satisfactory. Our villa was a long distance from the main resort facility. Some maintenace was needed and slow to get. Many shops and restraunts were in close proximity. Harolds bar and grill had great burgers and terrific breakfast. Tontos was exceptional for food and service. Locals were very friendly and loved to visit with you. Weather was terrific in early March. It was a good location for quiet and safe vacation. Good walking and desert exploration at Spur Cross Ranch Recreation Area.

Big Mistake

Ernest, 2007-03-06

Good restaurants in Cave Creek.

This was an anniversary trip and a time that we so deserved for relaxation. I had called ahead and requested a nice room one with a King bed, no smoking and view if possible of the pool. Our plane was delayed and we arrived late, when we arrived our room was not ready at 8:45pm, we had to wait while the staff finished some foolish phone personal conversation. Several personel came from the back but no one said Hi or welcome or can I help you. We parked our car under the canopy for registration as we always do on trips and some man came in a yelled move that white car very rude. Now we had been traveling all day, room not ready, rude staff. I was thinking this can not be happening. We were told that we had a charge for staying at the resort. The room that we were sent to, down a dreary, dirty, dark hallway, with no escort was awful . It smelled, was not clean and had two small beds. WE journeyed back up to the front desk and said we could not stay in that room so we got to wait until they could clean? another room. The new room was not clean, I found a rag and we cleaned the drawers out so we could unpack, we were there for 10 days. We had to clean off the TV and the bathroom was so discusting. I cleaned the bathroom so we could take a shower. The next morning we went to the front desk and got the same reception,Ignored. no eye contact, was not receptive to us at all. We left for a while to calm down and when we came back someone had calked all arround the bathtub to get rid of the mold that was so discusting. The accomodations were not acceptable. The only good thing about the accomodations is the room is large, but so outdated. The hallways are actually creepy, dingy dirty. The rooms have no pictures, just not first class. We made the best of a bad situation but will not do this again. I do not ever remember in all my years of traveling having to clean my own room at 10:30pm to stay. One more thing there were very few staying at that resort so why was it a problem to get a clean room.

wonderful service but not much more

kathy, 2007-03-04

The services there were wonderful, we asked for larger beds and that never happened but other than that we wer treated very well. The queen beds were very uncomfortable my bed had a spring sticking out, my back hurt every morning. The pool had news paper in it for 2 days, The hot tub was non functionable due to news paper clogging the vents for 2 days no one did anything to fix it until finally a guest of the hotel went in and cleared the clog. NOT HAPPY AT ALL!!

Not for the business traveller

Michael, 2006-11-15

Downtown Carefree has some excellent dining choices and the town looks like a great place to explore. Nearby nature trails can also be fun. Too bad I didn't have more time for the exploration.

I was very much looking forward to staying at the resort. I even drove over an hour out of my way for the overnight business stay. I regret that I took my time to stay at Carefree. First off, I must admit the staff were very friendly and the outside grounds looked very nice. But that was the end of the positive feedback. The grounds were nicely maintained, but the signage at night could not be seen. I had to walk the entire property to find my room. Too bad I found it. The room was horible. It reminded me of a roadside motel. Lightbulbs were burned out, the furniture didn't fit the room, the carpet had stains, the bathroom felt dirty, the bedding felt dirty. In short, until they make some renovations to the rooms I would not recommend staying there.

Very Relaxing

Anonymous, Flint, MI, 2006-10-16

Resort was very relaxing, upon arrival we were upgraded to a Jr Villa and the staff treated us great for the entire trip. You have to know when you go to Carefree that you are out away from all of the major traffic, so if you're expecting to take a 2 minute drive and be in Scottsdale this isn't the place for you. If you are however looking to get away from everything and relax this is the place for you.
