University of Fairbanks Art MuseumPike's Waterfront Lodge provides a very convenient, around the clock shuttle to & from the airport, railroad depot, and can also be available for transport for a reasonable amount to local points of interest. The room, though small, was clean and the beds were comfortable. There were excellent room darkening curtains to keep out the late night sun. The lodge is located a reasonable walking distance from a very entertaining and educational riverboat cruise which includes a tour of a reconstruction of a working Athabascan Village and a sled dog demonstration. There are several excellent restaurants nearby. The dining room at the hotel serves a very nice breakfast buffet. The staff was friendly and helpful all around. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Lodge Patrick, Denver, CO, 2006-06-11 We ate at Pikes Landing (next door) for dinner and Sunday Brunch; for dinner we had the best AK king crab legs and the Sunday Brunch was excellent. We really enjoyed Pikes Landing very much. The outside is plain, but the inside has the classic Alaskan Lodge look. Our room was a good size, the bed and pillows were comfortable. The only minor complaint is that the AC unit was pretty noisy, and it was so small that it was practically on all the time. The room had a little deck but was so small you couldn't really put a chair on it. Score 5 out of 5 Offseason bargain Anonymous, 2005-09-27 Bring a raincoat if visiting in the fall. I was there in late Sept and the attractions such as river paddle boat, trips to gold mines and mountains had stopped running. The University of Alaska has great museum and the food at the student union was tasty--and good spot for the budget wise visitor. Townspeople - most helpful.Advertised as free transportation--which was provided for transport to and from airport. Some staff also provided a transport into town as town was several miles away--accessible by in-frequent bus with transfers or spendy taxi. I appreciated gretly those who would drop me off in town--I was there "off-season" so place wasn't very busy. Continental breakfasts - nice. Only restaurant was next door--with cheapest food at $15 for hamburger. An in-room fridge would have been nice. Terrific view--room above the river. Staff very accommodating. Score 4 out of 5 Nice rooms very beautiful hotel Alison, Anchorage, AK, 2005-09-18 The hotel is very nice and clean. Nice contintential breakfast. Waterfront in back of hotel. Our stay at Pike Waterfront was just okay, rooms are very nice and comfortable, very beautiful hotel, real Alaskan. But the hotel staff was very unfriendly.Hotel was to far from town. Might atay there again if all other hotels are booked. Did not eat in either one of there resturant very expensive. Bartender at bar in the hotel was so rude. But the price per night was very reasonable. To be fair it was thier off season for the area. Score 4 out of 5 Overbooked Anonymous, 2005-08-10 There are several restaurants nearby. Denny's has slow breakfast service. Hotel is near the airport. This hotel was over booked . The air conditioning was not working correctly. There was no pool. Laundry facilities were inadequate and steaming hot in there. Score 3 out of 5 Ok Anonymous, 2005-08-05 The hotel was moderately furnished for the high price. Needs a little classing up. Score 5 out of 5 Not elegant but touristy nice Anonymous, Anchorage, AK, 2005-05-28 This property cater's to tourists, its has an Alaskan lodge theme to it. It appears to be well managed, the staff is friendly and helpful. I had a room on the side racing the Chena River, except for the occaisional motor boat it was very quiet. The rooms are nicely appointed although I wish thehy had refrigerators and microwave's like some of the other Fairbanks hotels have. Pike's is right across from the FAI airport which is also convenient. There's a coffee shop in the lodge which I have never used but I always have their Sunday brunch at the Restaurant which is located right next door. In the summer you can sit out on the deck which is right on the Chena River. The Sunday brunch is quite a value and very good. The deck is also a nice hangout to have a beer with some friends on a hot afternoon. Definately an "A" property. Score 4 out of 5 Location is friendly Anonymous, Knoxville, TN, 2005-05-20 Accomodations were adequate. Location along the river was nice. One sour note, the continental breakfast as advertised to come with the room rate was only served on Sunday as a amenity with the room. All other days a additional charge was incurred. |
