The Puffin Inn is conveniently located near the Ted Steven's International Airport and Lake Hood and just 10 minutes from downtown Anchorage, shopping and the Anchorage Railroad. It's still just a short drive from scenic Alaska and all of its natural beauty. Whether traveling for business or pleasure, the Puffin Inn has 4 distinct room styles to perfectly suit your needs. By request of many of our guest, the Puffin Inn is now a completely non-smoking hotel. Plus, new in 2006, all our rooms have air conditioning. Our deluxe section, built in 2001, has spacious, attractively appointed rooms with many comfortable features. Offering a unique blend of comfort and privacy, the Chandler Inn, which houses our boutique style rooms, is a small, completely separate building ' block from the Puffin Inn. The moderate section building was built in 1984 and remodeled in the spring of 2002. These spacious rooms have exterior entrances making them ideal for hunters, fishermen or families with a lot of gear. While much older and smaller, our original section rooms are a bargain for the budget traveler. Newly remodeled in 2006 with new beds, furnishings, linens and carpet, these rooms are ideal when just a bed will do. Independently owned and operated, the Puffin Inn?s dedicated owner, management and staff have been serving the needs of visitors to Alaska for over 20 years.
Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Small nice rooms Anonymous Anchorage AirportThe rooms of the hotel felt a little small for the price, but they were comfortable and well kept. The hotel staff was very friendly and tried very hard to satisfy what was needed. All in all the hotel was nice. Score 4 out of 5 Convinient to airport, good winter value Anonymous, 2007-02-07 Don't expect to be too close to very much. Without a car, or expected cab rides, you may not be able to access very much in Anchorage. The Puffin Inn was great if you need a comparitivly reasonable place to rest. It is clean, quiet, has a very good airport shuttle, etc... I use it for it's convinience to the airport and the large Post Office. Other than that you may want to consider other hotels that offer different amenities (for a price of course). Score 5 out of 5 Very friendly staff! Jan, Chicago, IL, 2006-09-14 I arrived in Anchorage late at night, but staff greeted me promptly when I called for a pick up and had a smile as I checked in. The hotel is more quaint than I'm used to but it was clean and something I didn't expect...quiet! Had a great night's rest to get me going on my next leg of my journey. I appreciated the shuttle service to/from the airport. Nice and helpful and knowledgeable about the area. Recommended! Score 5 out of 5 Friendly Staff Anonymous, Houston, TX, 2006-08-19 Right around the corner from a lake that is surrounded by airplanes, fun to watch take offs and landing of these planes with pontoons. Also had a place to go on a sight flight on this lake very close to hotel. The staff was wonderful. After a very long flight and arriving after midnight the staff was helpful in getting us in our room quickly. The room was great, spacious, very clean and more than we expected. We thought it was a little pricey but soon found that it was quite reasonable for the Alaska area. The decor was wonderful, all the staff went out of the way to be friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good but mostly carbs and we had to go elsewhere for a bit of protein for my diabetic husband. The hotel was centrally located for several choices for him and found a really great coffee shop across the street. We didn't stay long but truly enjoyed our stay. Score 1 out of 5 Last Resort Anonymous, Denver, CO, 2006-08-14 I suggest staying here only if there are no other hotel rooms available in Anchorage. The hotel is located directly on a heavily traveled street (Spenard Road). With the hotel window open, it sounded like cars were going to drive right into our room. My husband and I stayed (one night) in what could pass for a very small one-person dorm room. You get the basics: bed, bathroom and TV. There were no dresser(s) or closets in the room, only hooks on the wall on which to hang clothes, coats, etc. On a positive note, the room was clean, no expense was spared for the cool TV, and the hotel is located close to the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport. The free breakfast "buffet" is very limited: cold cereals, juice/coffee/tea, and make-it-yourself waffles. Score 4 out of 5 Very convienent Brent, Anchorage, AK, 2006-08-07 The puffin Inn was very clean, rooms spacious. Bathroom clean and updated. We appreciated the extra sink in the room to hasten our family getting ready for bed and getting up in the morning. Close proximentry to Anchorage airport made getting to the airport a snap. Excellent shuttle service. Score 5 out of 5 Great Room at a Reasonable Rate Cecil, Kodiak, AK, 2006-05-28 This is a very short distance to the airport in a quiet area. The Puffin Inn has very clean and comfortable rooms with queen beds, refrigerator, and a free breakfast. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to the traveler that is staying short term or long term. The price of the room is very reasonable for the accomodations. |
