Come and enjoy your home away from home at the Parkwood Inn. The hotel rooms are similar to a studio style apartment, with about 450sq feet per room, a fully equipped kitchen, walk-in closets, private balconies, and all the comforts of home. The Parkwood Inn is also one of the only hotels in Anchorage that has a beautiful landscaped property where our guests can enjoy the outside as well as the inside. With Park benches located on the lawns for your enjoyment, as well as Picnic tables and Barbeque pits for a little outdoor cooking experience. Why not enjoy the beauty and nature of Alaska while still inside the city.
Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 What a DUMP!!! Stephen, Burlington, VT, 2006-08-24 Stay away from this motel. I have never stayed in a more run-down dump. The toilet would not flush; the shower did not work properly and sent water flying all over the bathroom; the room was gross and dirty; rooms were not cleaned until 5pm. It was like a scene from National Lampoon. The list goes on and on....... STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!!!!!!!!! Score 5 out of 5 Relaxing for the solitary visitor Anonymous, San Luis Obispo, CA, 2006-08-04 The Parkwood Inn was a very wonderful place. Although I booked for a week, they allowed me to check out while I was given the opportunity to camp for a few days at Denali. When I returned and needed a room, they were there. The rooms were quite spacious and the amenities were great. If I return to Anchorage, I'll be contacting them first. Score 3 out of 5 Spacious if not Detailed... Wendell, Tampa, FL, 2006-07-04 For cars, RVs, etc., this was a good launching point for driving explorations. The accomodations were spacious (Most modern chains, with just a room were easily 30 - 40% more!) My unit had a double sink, 2 queen beds, oven/stove, refrigerator, but no microwave - *strange* (as it probably wouldn't fit on the counter). Quite a few locals stayed in the place which I kind of liked, though the guests all didn't seem like tourists. People were nice. There was no hotel dining, but I wasn't expecting any. Likes: Lots of cable TV channels (eventhough my remote control had to be programmed by me, but at least the front desk had a manual to program it with). Plus my wireless for my laptop was great(but I heard all rooms are not created wi-fi equal). Ample free parking. Close proximity to the Highway. Big Windows overlooking neighborhood greenery. Lots of counter, table sitting space. Community computer with printer. Magnetic card keys for the doors. Dislikes: No closet. Clothes were hung up in the main living space. No screens on windows and windows did not open. Open door would invite too many mosquitos. Housekeeping was minimal, sloppy, and not timely. No attention to detail. Floor not vacuumed. Individually wrapped miniature bars of soap drove me crazy. I could tell, they were trying to improve with a lot of fire prevention additions. But they leveraged their services against what other hotels were offering; and compared to what I could find, Parkwood Inn wasn't too bad. It's Anchorage and I assumed 'rough-n-ready'. I wasn't expecting luxury, but I was expecting better. Score 4 out of 5 Just a stopping place Jeanine, Atlanta, GA, 2006-06-11 all the chain restruantsThe staff was very helpful and friendly. The romm itself was clean, but the place seemed run down and neglected on the outside. The deck outside was totally unusable. Knowing this, helped us appreciate the price which was low. Score 5 out of 5 great staff David, Salt Lake City, UT, 2005-08-21 The hotel staff was great unfortunately when we arrived at the hotel it was allready booked. Luckily the staff called about 10 hotels untill they fould us a room somewhere else so we weren't stranded in a town where pretty much every hotel was booked. Score 1 out of 5 Don't stay at this hotel! Lisa, 2005-08-17 Old terrible beds, all furnishings worn out. A really bad experience. Plus it was filthy too. |
