Flights to Las Vegas will arrive at the McCarran International Airport (LAS). LAS is the primary airport for commercial Las Vegas flights. Individuals can purchase domestic and international air tickets to a variety of places across the world. There are a number of lounges here where passengers can purchase food and drinks while waiting for their flight. Moreover, there is the Howard W. Cannon Aviation Museum Aviation Museum here for families to explore. Situated on the Level 2 Esplanade section of the airport, this museum offers an inside look into the history of Las Vegas aircraft. The museum is free to Las Vegas flight patrons 24-hours a day. There are also a number of art displays and a kid's play area to wring the energy out of the children before boarding a longer flight.
Las Vegas, located in the desert of Nevada, has a year-long dry climate. No matter what time during the year your flight is scheduled, the weather will be hot, dry, and breezy. From January to June, temperatures are between 60-100 degrees. From July to December, temperatures can go even higher. The summers in Las Vegas can be hot, but the city spends a fortune on air-conditioning. Many tourists plan flights to Las Vegas during the summer months. March, April, May, October, and November are good months to plan your travel to Las Vegas; temperatures during these months are in the high 60s / low 70s. The summer months are great for inexpensive prices on air fare and hotel accommodations, so save your money for purchasing water.
Depending on where you decide to stay in Las Vegas, getting around the area can be simple as walking or taking cab. After your Las Vegas flight arrives at the McCarran International Airport, you have the option of renting a car, taking a shuttle straight to the casino, or catching a cab. Certain flight packages to Las Vegas will include shuttle trips to and from the airport, often supplied by the hotel. The CAT bus system is also a viable transportation option for individuals that want to have a way to travel up and down the Las Vegas Strip without having to walk. The two main bus routes that service the strip are the #301 and #302 bus lines. Bus fare is $2.00 per travel.
Las Vegas has plenty of entertainment options for tourists that fly into LAS. Along with your accommodations, the following attractions are a must-see:
When it comes to Las Vegas, there really isn’t a bad time to visit. Virtually every major holiday is a prime time, but Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are particularly popular. Big conventions happen throughout the year, but especially in January, early spring, and October to December. Even relatively slow times like August and the two weeks prior to Christmas are just opportunities for better rates and more breathing room.
There are things to be aware of during each season. Weather warms up quickly in spring, with temperatures in the 80s to 90s during the day (though it can still be cool at night), so pool season is always early here. In summer, temperatures are regularly over 100 (and stay high even at midnight), making drinking water and applying sunscreen universal necessities and outdoor walking discouraged. When fall arrives, outdoor activities such as hiking in Red Rock Canyon or visiting Hoover Dam are more appealing. In winter, temperatures can dip lower than most expect (even to freezing overnight), skies can be overcast, and there’s even a bit of precipitation (flash flooding does happen in January). Of course, this cooler weather rarely affects the majority of activities available but does provide added incentive to get outside and explore.
Vegas tends to be much calmer and more manageable on weekdays, when prices for rooms, spa services, entertainment, and even meals can drop, often significantly.
