As you visit Dallas, you will feel the sophistication of a modern metropolis combined with the traditions of the Lone Star State. At the observation deck of the Reunion Tower, you can enjoy 360 degree views of this bustling city. Home to five major league franchises, Dallas is a true sports mecca. You can get rowdy by cheering on the city's teams at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, American Airlines Center and Toyota Stadium. When you're ready to escape the hustle of downtown, you can find some tranquility at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens.
After landing at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport (DFW), you can use the SkyLink system to navigate the terminals. At the CentrePort/DFW Airport Station, commuter trains operated by Trinity Railway Express can take you directly to Downtown Dallas. If you prefer to explore the city by car, use Interstate 20 and Interstate 635, which both run through the grounds of DFW. These highways also act as beltways that provide convenient access to nearby communities such as Fort Worth, Irving and Garland.
Summertime in Dallas can bring some scorching conditions with temperatures above 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Fortunately, you can find some shade at urban green spaces such as Pioneer Park, City Hall Plaza and Thanksgiving Square Park.
Dallas can get downright steamy in the summer, and May is the state’s rainiest month, so travelers are advised to visit the city in the spring and fall, when the climate is more moderate yet still warm. Average temperatures in July and August hover around 96 degrees Fahrenheit, while April and October are more comfortable in the high 70s.
Although Dallas is not Texas’s largest city, it’s pivotal for business, both on the state and national levels. Flights year-round are often filled with business travelers, and the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport is one of the busiest in the country. For those reasons, fares to and from Dallas rarely vary, although you might see a bump in travel prices in the summer months and around the winter holidays.
Dallas can get frigid for Texas standards in December and January, when temperatures lower to the mid to high 50s. However, it rarely snows in Dallas—the city averages a mere 2.5 inches each year.
