About the Traverse City Cherry Capital Airport

Flights from Traverse City, Michigan, originate at the Cherry Capital Airport. Its colorful name fits with the décor inside the airport, which has a design inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright. The sleek, modern style makes the airport wait a bit more comfortable. Located four miles from downtown Traverse City on South Airport Road, Cherry Capital is a small hub for eight airlines. They include American Eagle, Delta and United. More than 250 domestic flights come through the airport each week. Reserve your air ticket for one of those flights on Orbitz.com

Parking at Cherry Capital

Stow your car in the short- or long-term parking lots offered by the airport. The short-term lot charges $1.25 per half-hour, with a $10 maximum charge. The long-term lot charges $2.00 per hour, with a $6.75 maximum daily limit and a $10.00 maximum weekly limit. The cell-phone lots on the east side of the terminal are reserved for pickups only.

Finding Transportation to the Airport

You have a choice of independent shuttles, taxis or hotel shuttles to get you to the flight on time. Independent shuttles are the most expensive. Some of the rates are over $100, depending on the company. You can take a taxi for a $5.00 minimum fare and an average of $3.00 per mile. Hotel shuttles are the best deals. If you arrange them when you book the hotel, you can get a ride to the airport free of charge. Book the hotel and flight together on Orbitz.com to keep further costs down.

A Meal before the Flight

Get a bite to eat and/or a cup of coffee before an early flight at one of two restaurants located close to the Cherry Capital Airport. Opa Coney and Grill offers Greek Cuisine to fill you up. They are open for breakfast, serving the traditional American dishes with a Greek spin on them. Grab a quick bite to eat at Big Apple Bagels if you are in a hurry. For great deals on air tickets, book your flights from Traverse City on Orbitz.com.
