Flights to Noumea
Flights from Papeete
Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia, is the home of the only international airport in the country. The Fa'a'? International Airport is located about three miles from the center of Papeete, built mostly on reclaimed land on an offshore coral reef. Cheap flights from Papeete are available for those leaving the island through the air carriers Air France, Air New Zealand, Air Tahiti, Air Tahiti Nui, and LAN Airlines, among others. Seats can often be reserved at a discount through Orbitz.com.
Parking at the Fa'a'? International Airport
Fa'a'? International Airport provides two parking lots for the short- and long-term parking needs of its customers. The first hour of short-term parking in the P1 lot is about $2, with no charges if parked for less than 10 minutes. After the first hour, the hourly parking rate falls, until reaching the maximum 24-hour charge of around $15. Prices for the P2 long-term lot are similar, with 10 free minutes followed by falling rates beginning at about $2 an hour. The maximum daily rate for the long-term lot is around $10 a day.
Transportation to Fa'a'? International Airport
Transportation to the airport from the city is primarily by airport shuttle bus or taxi. The bus travels along the west coast freeway, ending at a bus stop located in front of the airport's main terminal. Taxis can be taken from the town center to the airport for around $10.
A Meal before Leaving Papeete
Papeete has several restaurants and pubs that serve a wide variety of the unique blend of French and Polynesian food for which the area is known. Morrison's café is a good place for a last taste of the region, dished up quickly if you're in a hurry to catch one of the cheap flights from Papeete. For a more leisurely and elegant meal, however, L'o a la Bouche would better serve, though only lunch and dinners are available.
