Orbitz.com can help you book your next trip from New York to St. Louis. One of the best features of the New York City area is the availability of multiple airport options to get you on your way. St. Louis, Missouri, is a cosmopolitan southern city on the Mississippi River, with a distinct French flair. As you fly into the city, you will be greeted by a memorable view of the Gateway Arch, one of the city's most identifiable features.
New York City has three airports that serve travelers in the area. LaGuardia Airport, located in the borough of Queens, is approximately 25 minutes from downtown Manhattan by car. American Airlines, Southwest Airlines and Delta Connection offer nonstop flights from LaGuardia to Lambert-St. Louis International Airport. Getting to LaGuardia Airport from anywhere in downtown New York is relatively easy. Hail a metered yellow taxi on any street corner in the downtown area. The ride will cost between $35 and $50, depending on traffic and your starting point. The city bus also goes to the airport at a cost of $2.25 per adult for the regular bus and $5 for the express bus. If you choose to drive to the airport, long-term parking is available at a rate of $33 per day. While LaGuardia Airport is not particularly modernized, it does offer options for you to grab a bite to eat before a flight, such as at Dunkin' Donuts or Five Guys.
John F. Kennedy International Airport, also located in Queens, is approximately 12 miles from lower Manhattan. Only Delta Connection offers nonstop flights from this airport to St. Louis, but it is easy to arrange a connecting flight to St. Louis going through Washington D.C., Atlanta, Pittsburgh or Philadelphia. JFK Airport can easily be reached by taxi, bus, subway and AirTrain monorail service. Parking at the airport costs $33 a day at the closest airport lots and $18 a day at the long-term economy lots located approximately 4 miles from the terminals.
Flying out of Newark Liberty International Airport is also a viable option for travelers. This airport is located in Northern New Jersey, approximately 45 minutes by car from downtown New York. Southwest Airlines and United Express offer nonstop flights from Newark to St. Louis. Taxi, bus, train and AirTrain monorail service are available to get you to the airport. Airport parking costs $33 per day or $18 at the long-term economy lots. Many dining options are available while you wait for your flight, including Subway and Starbucks.
St. Louis, known as the Gateway City, is a fun travel destination for people of all ages, offering a wide array of local attractions and family-friendly activities. The city has three major neighborhoods. The Hill is known for its old world charm and outstanding Italian restaurants. Soulard is a French neighborhood that is famous for its Soulard Market and Bastille Day and Mardi Gras celebrations. The Central West End is the chic neighborhood, featuring trendy shops, art galleries and cozy sidewalk cafes.
Visitors to St. Louis arrive at Lambert-St. Louis International Airport, located approximately 10 miles northwest of downtown St. Louis. Upon arrival, you can take MetroLink's Red Line train from Terminal 1 or Terminal 2 directly to downtown St. Louis. One-ride and all-day tickets can be purchased from vending machines. MetroBus service is also available from a stop next to the intermediate parking lot that is accessible from Terminal 1. Metered taxis, limos and shuttles are available at the airport, and travelers also have the option to rent a car from Avis, Alamo, Budget, Enterprise, National, Hertz or Thrifty.
The St. Louis area enjoys four distinct seasons. Summers are hot and humid, with average temperatures in the 90s. Spring is wet and can experience severe weather in the form of thunderstorms and tornadoes. Fall is typically mild, with the first snowfall often arriving in November. Winter can be cold and snowy, with temperatures regularly dropping below freezing. Summer and fall are usually the ideal seasons for visiting St. Louis.
St. Louis is a hotspot for music and the performing arts and is the home of the Saint Louis Symphony, the second-oldest symphony orchestra in the United States. The city is famous for blues, jazz and ragtime. Architecture buffs can enjoy the city's significant 19th-century buildings, including the Emmanuel DeHodiamont House, the Chatillon-DeMenil House, the Campbell House and the Wainwright Building. The Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, the Missouri Botanical Garden and the Cathedral of St. Louis are also popular attractions.
