Flying Out of New York City
Three airports serve the New York City metropolitan area: LaGuardia Airport, Newark-Liberty International Airport and John F. Kennedy (JFK) International Airport. From Manhattan, LaGuardia is 6.5 miles, JFK is 20 miles and Newark is 16 miles. Flights to Rome leave from all three airports, and flights are offered by multiple airlines, including United Airlines, US Airways, Air Canada and British Airways.
All three airports have long-term parking options for those who need to leave their cars at the airport while they travel. The rates at Newark and JFK accrue in 8-hour intervals, with a maximum charge of $18 per day. LaGuardia Airport charges $66 for the first two days and $18 per day after the second day. If you don't want to drive to the airport, you can get from the city to JFK or LaGuardia by taking the NYC Airporter shuttle bus. It costs $12.75 to get to LaGuardia Airport and $15.75 to get to JFK. You can also take a taxicab to any of the three airports.
