New York City

Three airports serve the New York City Area: the John F. Kennedy International Airport, LaGuardia, and Newark Liberty International. JFK Airport sees the most traffic to Bangkok. The airport is located about 12 miles southeast of Lower Manhattan and is served by American Airlines, JetBlue Airways, Lufthansa, and more than 60 other airlines. Newark Liberty Airport has less international traffic and is located 15 miles southwest of Midtown Manhattan. It acts as a hub for FedEx Express and United Airlines. LaGuardia is used only for domestic flights. Both international airports offer various rates for parking.

You have several options for getting to JFK or Newark. New York City has one of the largest public transit systems in the world. JFK International has AirTrain, a privately operated shuttle system that connects to MTA subways and the Long Island Rail Road. If you are traveling from Lower or Midtown Manhattan, the fare is $7.25.

It's a long flight from New York to Bangkok, so you'll want something to eat before you go. Stop at one of the many airport restaurants and cafés. For example, you can get a taste of Italy at the Tuscany café located behind JFK International's check-in counter.

The Capital of Thailand

Located near the mouth of the Chao Phraya River, Bangkok is an important trade location and one of the most traveled tourist destinations in Asia. From its Buddhist temples to historical palaces and other landmarks, Bangkok has plenty of tourist attractions.

Orbitz.com can help you get a bargain on a rental car if you prefer to drive, because it is partnered with companies such as Enterprise and Avis.

You can expect steady temperatures throughout the year. Highs reach the upper 80s, and lows remain in the upper 60s. Thailand has a tropical climate, with dry and rainy seasons. The rainy season lasts from approximately May to October, with the most rainfall occurring in September. Most people prefer to visit during the winter when it isn't as hot and humid.

Bangkok is known mainly for its temples and palaces as tourist attractions. Wat Pho, the Temple of the Reclining Buddha; Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn; and Wat Phra Kaew, the Temple of the Emerald Buddha are the most popular ones to visit. When you visit the Buddhist temples, remember to dress appropriately: no shorts or low-cut tops. Of course, there is more to Bangkok than temples. Bangkok is filled with traditional Thai massage parlors and schools. The Jim Thompson House, named after the founder of the Thai silk industry, is another popular attraction; this museum houses an extensive collection of Asian art.
