Business travelers and vacationers fly from Los Angeles to London. London is home to many major banks and corporations, and it boasts some of the world's most familiar tourist attractions, including Buckingham Palace. Orbitz.com offers low-fare flights to London, as well as deals on rental cars and hotels.
Los Angeles is the largest city in California and is an international city thanks to its immigrant population and its proximity to Latin America. Los Angeles is a business and research hub that serves as headquarters to multinational firms and is also home to top-notch universities.
When you fly to London from Los Angeles, your flight will depart from Los Angeles International Airport, which serves over 70 airlines and is located 15 miles from the central part of the city. You can leave your car at either the CTA covered parking facility or the Lot C economy lot, both of which offer long-term parking. You can also take advantage of the city bus and subway routes that connect to free airport shuttles or the city airport buses from suburbs, including Santa Monica. The FlyAway private shuttle leaves from Union Station, as well as Westwood, and official taxis service the airport. While public transportation to the airport is available for the regular fare of $1.50 from Los Angeles, taxis collect an airport surcharge of $4.
Once you get to the airport, you can enjoy refreshments at one of the fast-food restaurants and cafes in the public areas, wait until you get to the departure zone to grab coffee and a snack or even sit down to a full meal before you board your plane. Duty-free shopping outlets are located in all of the departure terminals, so you can purchase your favorite spirits, fragrances and luxury goods at a low cost.
London is the capital of the United Kingdom, and it is located in southeast England. The Romans founded the city during the first century A.D., and the London Stone still survives as an artifact of the Roman era. London now serves as an international commercial and cultural center.
Five airports, Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton and London City, serve London. Each airport offers public transportation options, including rail and bus connections, to London's famous underground subway system. Taxis from all but London City airport are very expensive, so travelers who prefer taxis are advised to use a public transportation option to one of London's railway or underground stations and pick up a taxi from there. Rental cars are available at each airport, and there are also private shuttles from the airports to central London locations.
London is known for its rain, which can strike at any time, but it does not get extremely hot or cold at any time of year. From December to March, lows hit 36 degrees Fahrenheit, with highs reaching 46 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit in December, January and February. Highs of 52 degrees Fahrenheit are common in March. July and August highs are about 73 degrees Fahrenheit, and lows are about 55 degrees Fahrenheit. There is quite a bit more daylight during the summer months, so you may want to consider visiting London in July or August if you prefer outdoor attractions to the city's famed nightlife.
Attractions in London include famous landmarks such as the Tower of London, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament. Newer landmarks include the London Eye observation point and interactive tourist experience. London is famous for museums, and a local London pub should be a part of any visit to the British capital. London nightlife includes avant-garde clubs that feature edgy, original sound created by local musicians and DJs.
There is something for everyone to enjoy in London, and even a business traveler can unwind after a long day's work at a pub or club. Booking low-cost flights from Los Angeles to London, along with deals on hotels and rental cars, is a great way to start your journey.
