Noi Bai International Airport is the largest airport serving the north region of Vietnam, offering cheap flights from Hanoi to most destinations in Asia as well as flights to Europe. Located about 28 miles from downtown Hanoi, the airport is a 30 to 45 minute cab ride away. The airport serves as a hub for Air Mekong and Vietnam Airlines, with services also provided by Aeroflot, China Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Japan Airlines and Cebu Pacific among others. Most flights only fly direct to other Asian cities, but reservations can be made to anywhere in the world using multiple carriers through Orbitz.com. Due to the small space between the runways, the airport is limited to handling only 10 million passengers a year.

A minibus is available from the Vietnam Airlines Office in the city center located on Quang Trung for $2. Travel using the public bus service is even less expensive, costing about $0.30. The bus service takes about an hour, with buses available at Kim Ma bus station and Long Bien bus station.
