Flights to Islamabad

Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport

More than six million people use the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport every year to travel around the world. Air Arabia, Qatar Airways, Tiger Airways, and United Airways handle flights from Dhaka, taking travelers to nearby destinations and foreign countries. While you can walk right up to the sales counter and purchase a ticket, you will spend much less when you book your ticket through Orbitz.com. Orbitz lets you search for available flights, find prices on package deals, and plan the perfect vacation quickly.

What to Do with Your Car

Driving to most airports is a hassle because the parking situation is so confusing. The Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport makes parking easy, because it offers two types of parking. Domestic parking lots charge BDT 15, and these lots are near the terminal. If you take an international flight, look for the international parking lots located inside the parking garage beside the terminal. You will pay BDT 50 for three hours of parking, with an additional fee charged for every hour or day that you remain parked in the lot.

Public Transportation to the Airport

Public transportation is a low-cost way to get to the airport. Many locals and tourists use rickshaws, which have seats located behind the bicycles. You can usually get to the airport for a small fee, but the total amount charged depends on the distance the rider travels. Cabs can also get you to the airport for around 200 TK. Baby taxis, which are smaller vehicles, cost only 100 TK to reach the airport.

The Firefly Restaurant

While some airports have dozens of restaurants, the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport has just one restaurant. Firefly serves fast and simple authentic dishes like fried rice and spicy balls filled with meat and vegetables. Orbitz.com does not provide sales on local restaurants, but you can get discounts on rental cars, flights, and fun activities. As long as you know when you want to travel, you can find inexpensive flights from Dhaka through Orbitz.

Benazair Bhutto International Airport

Though the Benazair Bhutto International Airport is in the city of Chaklala, this airport is the main source of cheap flights to Islamabad. The airport is around 20 miles from Islamabad and around 30 minutes from the center of the city. Nearly 20 airlines operate out of this airport, including Kuwait Airways, Oman Air, Nas Air, and Turkish Airlines. If you find that you cannot book a flight on your own, or you have problems reaching the airline of your choice, try Orbitz.com. Orbitz.com makes it easy to book a flight, reserve a hotel room, and even reserve your rental car.

Taxis and Buses

Buses are a popular mode of transportation for travelers because they have air conditioning. Some buses even feature attendants and free drinks or meals. Depending on where you want to go, you might pay up to 1,200 RS. The Regional Transport Authority maintains the public buses in the area, and these buses cost 15 RS for a shorter ride. Renting a taxi is another possibility, but these vehicles do not have air conditioning. You can rent a taxi for up to seven hours for a flat rate of 2,000 RS.

Winters and Summers

While Islamabad does not receive snow, the area does get rain during the winter and temperatures can drop as low as 38°F. The summers are warmer, with temperatures ranging from the high 60s to the high 80s. Some summer days will even see temperatures hitting the 100°F mark.

Destinations in Islamabad

The Faisal Mosque is one of the biggest in the world, making it a popular destination for tourists. The city also boasts Pir Shoawa, where you can see all of the city, and it's home to the Lok Virsa Museum, which gives visitors a short history of Pakistan. When you reach the area by air, you can see some of these sites as you land. The low prices and cheap flights to Islamabad offered by Orbitz.com ensure that almost anyone can afford this trip.
