Cairo to Tunis Flights

Cairo International Airport

Located 14 miles from central Cairo, Cairo International Airport offers a wide range of domestic and international flights from Cairo. Air France, EgyptAir, Nile Air, and Signapore Air are a few of the companies that handle the hundreds of daily flights. As the airport is one of the busiest on the continent, getting a flight is sometimes difficult. If you need help, visit Orbitz.com, which gives you access to hundreds of flights departing from this airport.

Parking at the Airport

Cairo International Airport has nine parking areas and more than 3,000 parking spots. One of the largest parking areas is reserved for long-term parking, which is your best choice if you wish to leave Cairo for seven days or more. Parking in a short-term lot can cost up to twice as much because these lots charge by the hour.

Transportation and Cabs

The cabs handling trips to the airport are different from the cabs found in other countries. Instead of relying on a meter, the cab driver will suggest a price to drive you to the airport. You pay the fare upfront. You might prefer the airport shuttle bus, which makes eight stops around Cairo, including one downtown. The bus has space for dozens of passengers, and it makes stops at the airport several times a day.

Dining at Restaurants

McDonald's and Burger King are two of the well-known chains located at the airport. You can also find local chains such as Bill Bentley's, Hippo Bar and Grill, and Puro Gusto. As long as you have a few minutes to spare, you have time to grab something to eat. With so many flights from Cairo leaving daily, you can use Orbitz.com to ensure that you get a seat on the right one.

Tunis-Carthage Airport

Booking flights to Tunis is easy with Orbitz.com. Just enter your destination, and Orbitz will recommend flights that fit your needs. Tunis-Carthage Airport, also referred to as Tunis Airport or Carthage International Airport, is the main airport in Tunis and is considered to be the premier airport in the country. It is roughly four miles northeast of the city center. Among the airlines serving Tunis Airport are TunisAir, SevenAir, Nouvelair Tunisia and Tunisavia. Lufthansa and Air France are its major international carriers.

Transportation from the Airport

The SNT bus line provides an easy ride from the airport to the city center. Another bus line, the TUT, offers a more luxurious ride to and from the airport for a slightly higher fare. Car rental services can be booked right at the arrival hall. Arriving passengers can choose from Avis, Budget, Hertz and Sixt. Metered taxis are also available just outside the terminal. Make sure that the meter fare is turned on, otherwise you might pay extra.

Weather in Tunis

The climate of Tunis is typical of the Mediterranean: It's warm and dry during the summer and cold and wet during winter or rainy season. Summer temperatures, especially from April to August, can reach 40 degrees Celsius, but the cool breeze coming from the sea can ease the heat. November through March is the best time to visit the city, as the heat dissipates during these months. A holiday weather planner can be useful before you check into the city.

Major Attractions of Tunis

Most travelers in Tunis visit the medina, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The medina of Tunis comprises of about 700 ancient monuments, mosques, mausoleums, fountains and madrasas that date back to as early as 723 AD. Other major attractions in the city are the Bardo Museum, the ruins of Carthage and the many cathedrals and mosques. Check budget flights to Tunis with Orbitz.com, and discover the ancient history of this fascinating city.
