During your Houston vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Flying Napoli
The name is a bit strange, but there is certainly nothing weird about the food at this place. Considering that the wait can sometimes be tedious, it would be nice if the waiting room was a bit larger, but, on the other hand, the sense of coziness and intimacy is appealing to many diners. Guests of all ages keep waiting it out and going back for more. You will want to try the calzone, the pizza and the meat-sauced pastas. In other words, no disappointing items are on the menu, and you should make it a point to eventually try them all. Once you see the extremely reasonable prices, even your wallet will agree.
My Le Restaurant
You will not visit this restaurant for the ambiance, but you will certainly enjoy the great food and low prices. Lunch is always bustling with professionals, but this spot is also popular for dinner. Choose from an extensive menu of appetizers that includes soups, noodle dishes, egg rolls and lo mein. The house special is the delicious number 56 ($4.95 for lunch, $6.95 for dinner), which is a heaping mound of tomato-fried rice served with chunks of steak and onions in a hearty sauce. An assortment of vegetarian items is also available.
Andre's Tea Room
Definitely make an effort to visit this cozy nook on the edge of the River Oaks area. Pastry and quiche lovers have been satisfying their appetites at this spot for many years. Buttery treats fill the pastry case, including croissants that will melt in your mouth. Make sure you snag several to go along with your Quiche Lorraine. Alcohol is not available, but you really will not care. Cafe au lait is a much more suitable drink for washing down these treats.

Stacia Leigh Bed & Breakfast
The staysail schooner, Chryseis, built in 1906 and later owned by Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, is home to this unique floating bed and breakfast. The 120-foot craft was renovated in 1998 and features antique furnishings in each of its 11 suites. While the interior is lovely, do not miss the outdoor view. The topside observation deck offers a spectacular view of the historic and majestic Elissa, moored in the next slip.
Gilded Thistle (The)
Full gourmet breakfasts, chef's-choice evening meals and a guest snack pantry are only three of the compelling reasons to book a stay at this lovely bed and breakfast (circa 1893). To make guests even more comfortable, the innkeepers have abolished time schedules. Meals are served at your leisure, and there is no set time to check in or out. The cozy rooms, beautifully-appointed with antiques and old family photographs, help make time stand still.
Patrician Bed & Breakfast Inn
This romantic B&B, built in 1919, was recently restored and beautifully depicts a gracious era from the past. Located near the Museum District, the three-story mansion is the perfect hideaway for romantic or artistic visitors. The beds are plush, the baths are private, and the bathrobes are fluffy. Who could ask for more?
