Kabob-N-Curry
Find succulent, diverse Indian meals in this restaurant, just opposite the Avon Cinema. Choose to dine in the formal dining room or the glassed-in porch, which offers a nice view of the foot traffic on Thayer Street. The vegetable pakoras are a treat, and Sundays buffet brunch is very popular with the locals. It offers a full range of Indian cuisines, including Tandoori Chicken; curry, saag and vegetable dishes like Alu Gobhi (cauliflower and potatoes); and, of course, a range of kabob entrees cooked over a charcoal fire.
Grappa Restaurant of Providence
This is a relatively new addition to Providence's Water Street waterfront, which adjoins downtown. Next to the popular Hot Club, and close to several other waterfront clubs, this two-floor eatery commands a pleasant view of docked boats, the river and more. Entrees include pan-seared chicken breast, wood grilled Rack of Lamb and Vegetable Risotto. There is a full bar and a small parking lot, as well as some on-street parking.
Cactus Grille
This is an attractive, authentic Mexican eatery with striking Mexican murals on the walls, Mexican music in the early part of the evening when families are likely to be dining and Mexican and Guatemalan cooks. The diablo sauce (sour cream and salsa) and the fruity Mayan Barbecue sauce used on pork ribs are delicious. Such non-Mexican items as crabcake sandwiches and Louisiana Seafood Gumbo are served along with fajitas, enchiladas and other traditional Mexican fare. They also have a kids' menu. Located on the outskirts of downtown, they have ample parking in their lot.
