During your Baltimore vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Brown's Wharf
This lovely little harborside restaurant, in the heart of Fells Point, is a tranquil place to enjoy a good meal. It's a colorful restaurant, with green tabletops and blue chairs, and lots of windows that offer a spectacular view of the harbor. The food is simple but well prepared, and the seafood entrees are particularly good. The crab dip appetizer (with spinach leaves and artichokes) and the Chicken Chesapeake (boneless breasts in crab sauce) are both first-rate.
Alonso's
This Roland Park mainstay has been a local favorite since 1931. For an appetizer, consider Little Neck Clams, Mussles Marinerre or Bruschetta. Then satisfy your craving for a cheeseburger or a thin-crusted pizza topped with roasted vegetables, chicken or shrimp. Sandwiches and calzones are also on the menu, along with a list of wonderful entrees—Grilled Lamb Sirloin, Roast Breast of Free Range Chicken, and a Crab Cake platter. In addition to great food, this restaurant has a great beer menu—50 bottled beers and six on draft.
Corks Restaurant
Set in the historic Federal Hill neighborhood, in a rowhome dating to the mid-1800s, this lovely establishment, with its exposed brick interior walls and candle-lit intimacy, is not only one of Baltimore's premier wine bars, but also a first-class restaurant. The wine list features more than 200 excellent selections, primarily from small American vintners, and the entrees are hearty, flavorful and created specifically to accompany certain wines. The Muscovy Duck Breast with Wild Rice and Wild Cherry Demi-Glace, for instance, is paired with a Cedar Brook Winery "California" Pinot Noir.
